According to Frederick Gates death record Apr - Jun - 2004 in Bradford age 91 E74 081/1e 140 his birth date is given as 09 - 10 - 1912. He married Gertrude Alice Lee Jan - Mar - 1942 in Bradford Vol 9b Page 134. Even with this information I still have not found a birth record for him or the names of his parents.
Any information would be most welcomed.

I have looked at FMP,Family Search,FreeBMD and not found his birth.

I also checked the GRO and he is not there not from Bradford or anywhere close.

My suggestion is to buy the marriage certificate which will help.

JUST noticed on Family search three different page numbers for the marriage but the one you have is correct with the GRO reference. 9b 134.

A pdf file is cheaper than the paper certificate.

Fred, adding further to the excellent answers of Wendy et al in June last year:

Frederick Goetz birth reg Q4 1912 Houghton (Durham) MMN STEINBRENNER.
His parents marriage was:

1901 Sunderland Friedrich Gotz to Mina Steinbrenner Sunderland.

This is another of many examples of German names being anglicised around WW1.
If it was good enough for the Saxe-Cobourgs changing their name to Windsor, it was good enough for Frederick Goetz (alternatively in original German Gotz with umlaut) to change to Gates.

William Rosler, born 17 Aug 1907, Pork butchers (maker), single.

Frederick Snr's birth year wrongly transcribed as 1919.
Surname also wrongly transcribed as GOETY.
