Mary Ann Blenkinsop, John Morton

Mary Ann Blenkinsop was born in Barnard Castle(1866) and moved to Sheffield in 1890.
She married John Morton in 1890 in Sheffield.
They had several children and Mary died in 1913 at 17 Palmer street, and is buried at Darnall.
John died in 1922 at 48 Britnall street and is buried at Darnall.

Has anyone a photograph of this couple ?

Re: Mary Ann Blenkinsop, John Morton

Hi Phil,

Unless its from a family member I dont think you will have much luck.

Morton is a very common name in Sheffield.

Is this your John.

MORTON, JOHN 54

Marriages Sep 1890
Blenkinsop Mary Ann Ecclesall B. 9c 460

Have you traced his family?

Elaine in Ottawa.

Re: Mary Ann Blenkinsop, John Morton

Mary Ann Blenkinsop was my great grandmother.

Re: Mary Ann Blenkinsop, John Morton

I believe this is John's Burial and Mary Ann is in the same grave along with what could be their infant children.

Hi Phil

If you haven't tried this already, you might want to try putting a post on Sheffield Forum in the Expats and History section

https://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/forum/5-sheffield-history-amp-expats/.

That's a wider Sheffield Forum more likely to pick up relatives or someone who may have a photo.

Re: Mary Ann Blenkinsop, John Morton

Thank you Elaine I know the details and have visited the grave but it is a photograph of my Great grandmother I want to try and find.

Re: Mary Ann Blenkinsop, John Morton

Hi Denise,
I tried this some time ago.

Re: Mary Ann Blenkinsop, John Morton

Phil,
IF there ever was a photograph of this lady it will have passed to her husband John (b 1867) in 1813 when she died.
He was on the 1921 census in Britnall Street with 3 others:
John Morton b 1867 Sheffield HEAD
Agnes Morton b 1865 Osset Wife
Lily Morton b 1900 Sheffield DAUGHTER
John Arthur Morton b 1902 Sheffield SON

John died just one year later in 1922 still in Britnall Street and Agnes died in 1927.

Any family photos which may have been retained would have passed to either Lily (most likely) or John Arthur.
Suggest you contact descendants of Lily or John Arthur.
Dave
