I am researching for a friend a Wm Burrows b 1787 Eccleston Lancaster who served in the 22nd Dragoon Guards from 1816 until they disbanded 1820. He apparently also served from 1812 - 1816 in the HGB. This is unknown territory to me. Can anyone enlighten me on what HGB would mean please?

My guess is Horse Guards for HG. B could be Battery, battalion or possible Blues, because the Horse Guards were known as the Blues.

Many thanks Dave I was thinking along the same lines myself. There is also a record of him being a Chelsea pensioner too.
