Seems to be where the original Executor has been granted probate to administer the deceased estate, but where they themselves die before completing the administration of the original estate. And where there is no other Executor named in the will.
The Executor of the deceased Executors estate then assumes responsibilty for administering both estates, but has to re obtain Probate in their name for the original deceased estate.
Catherine, it seems that the person to whom the probate was originally granted became unable (died ?) Before completing all the actions necessary in the will a d therefore a new executor was granted the probate. That is long time between the two Grant's so either it was a very complex will or perhaps the first person was found to be erroneously granted.
If you give us the names of the persons involved perhaps it will become more clear.

Edit, touche Denise!
Thank you both Denise and Dave. I thought it might be but wasn't sure.
The death took place in 1935 and as you see probate in 1951.
Have found the 1935 probate.
By the way it was not a large amount of money only a couple of hundred pounds.
However many thanks
Catherine
