Wills and probate

I wonder if anyone can tell me please what 'sealed' means on the end of a will? The relative in question left his funds to his wife, however she died before him. They both died in Canada in the 1920's but the will and Probate is here in London.
Thanks in anticipation

Re: Wills and probate

Sarah, it means it is absolutely definite , unable to be changed.

Edit. If everything was left to his wife and she died before him then I believe that would render the will null and void. The right to inherit would then pass to to HIS relatives in the following pecking order
Children
Siblings
Cousins

Re: Wills and probate

thanks. I am unsure what happened to the cash. He obviously made the will before he left for Canada. His wife died and then three years later, he died. Maybe he forgot about making the will? Who knows

Re: Wills and probate

Sarah, if no valid heir could be found then the money will have gone to HM Treasury (Bona Vacantia)
