A friend is trying to find out what happened to Francis
Was he a Belgium refugee ,did he go back to Belgium
On Laura's birth cert it states father as James mills Birman but he was killed in Flanders in 1915 so no chance of that
any help welcome
How do you know this Francis Cox is the father?
Doesn't sound like a Belgium name?
What was his occupation.
Have you looked at the 1911 census to see if he is there.
Have you looked at the birth certificates of both children.
Have you looked at the death certificate for the child killed in an accident?
Hi Elaine
from what my friend knows. (Which is very little )he stopped in a Belgium refugee camp in Sheffield got lodgings with Kate and had a fling can't find any records of the camp
Kate was my friends grandma Laura was my friends mother now deceased the family know nothing
Regards linda
Lynda, how do you know that he was at that address in 1920, and how do you know he disappeared in1924 please?
Francis COCKX would would be a common Belgian name.
You have less than 2 years to wait for the 1921 census. Presumably they will be on that, and you will then get his age and place of birth and you will have something to work with
Dave
Edit, Francis 1917 Burman and Laura 1918 Burman both mmnTyrrell are on Gro index.
DEATH OF Francis 1924 registered as Burmin
The address in 1920 was from my friend ,everything else stated was correct
Kate was known as Kate mills Birman so Tyrell must have been her maiden name
Linda
Hi, I can confirm that Cox is a Belgian name.
My partner is Belgian and he knows several families in his hometown who have that spelling of the name.
Kokx is also possible.
