Re: Francis cox Belgium refugee

Hi Lynda,

A bit like wishing upon a star your request.

How do you know this Francis Cox is the father?
Doesn't sound like a Belgium name?
What was his occupation.
Have you looked at the 1911 census to see if he is there.

Have you looked at the birth certificates of both children.
Have you looked at the death certificate for the child killed in an accident?

All questions that need answering.

Re: Francis cox Belgium refugee

I can't help much....

Laura Burman mmn Tyrrell registered Sep qtr 1918
Ecclesall Bierlow 849 (Broomhall). This was on the GRO Index and the local Council Site.

I could not find a GRO reference for Francis 1917. Or a death
BUT I think its because he was registered differently.

Is this Kate?... kate M Burman
Death registered Dec qtr 1964 Sheffield 2d 184 age at death 77 giving her a BIRTH YEAR OF 1887.

PS has your friend been down to the Archives checking on the Belgium Camps in Sheffield?

Re: Francis cox Belgium refugee

Lynda, how do you know that he was at that address in 1920, and how do you know he disappeared in1924 please?
Francis COCKX would would be a common Belgian name.
You have less than 2 years to wait for the 1921 census. Presumably they will be on that, and you will then get his age and place of birth and you will have something to work with

Dave
Edit, Francis 1917 Burman and Laura 1918 Burman both mmnTyrrell are on Gro index.
DEATH OF Francis 1924 registered as Burmin

Re: Francis cox Belgium refugee

The address in 1920 was from my friend ,everything else stated was correct
Kate was known as Kate mills Birman so Tyrell must have been her maiden name

Re: Francis cox Belgium refugee

The burial record for Francis M Burmin in 1924 is in the burials over to the left.
Do you have the death certificate? Who registered the death?

Re: Francis cox Belgium refugee

Hi, I can confirm that Cox is a Belgian name.
My partner is Belgian and he knows several families in his hometown who have that spelling of the name.
Kokx is also possible.
