Re: School Transfer

Carrying on from your previous post.

Gray, Frank (Student, dob 18 Sep 1906).
Parent or guardian name(s): Frank (~), of 15 Darwin Rd.
Admitted to Marlcliffe Rd Junior & Infants Council School, Wadsley, as of 05 Jul 1915,
until 27 Jul 1916, reason for leaving: Transferred. Previously attended Wharn View

Suggestions and questions.

1. What is the address on Franks birth certificate?

2. the 1911 census would also help

3. The GRO gives only two Frank Grays born in Sheffield and neither born 1906.
MMN Littlewood or Woodcock.

His death registration lists him as Frank Willey Gray died 1982.

GRO birth index.
GRAY, FRANK WILLIAM -
GRO Reference: 1906 S Quarter in YORK Volume 09D Page 61

Could this be your chap?

Re: School Transfer

I assume that, at 10 yrs old, he simply transferred from the junior to the senior school until he was 14.

Re: School Transfer

Colin,
There is no doubt that TRANSFERRED on its own meant transferred within the school.
If you search the school records for Norman Aizlewood, and again for Nellie* Ash (the Asterisk is important) you will see each has 3 entries and therefore clear evidence in each case.
