Mark Silvester - Buttonmaker from Norton

G'day

I can't find a burial record for Mark. He was born 1760 and baptised in Norton - assume St James but can't find the church name. St James church is spitting distance from my family and I have drawing of it on my lounge wall.

I can't find his burial either and he died 1814.

Norton of course now Sheffield but was Derbyshire back in his time.

I've checked a few church records but having any idea which church he could be buried in that was local to him makes it hard for me.

I have some land tax records that had him living in Smithfield. I'm not 100% confident that they are him but they will do for now.

Any assistance I can get is appreciated.

cheers
Leisa

Hi Leisa

Mark Sylvester - baptised 6 Jul 1760 at St James Norton.

Then,

Mark Selvester, Button Maker, Abode: White Croft, Sheffield, Born 1760, Died 1814, aged 54, Buried 4 Jan 1814, St Peter and St Paul Cathedral Sheffield
