Belgium refugees register

Asking for a friend does anyone know if sheffield hold registers for Belgium refugees ,
Francis cox was living with friends grandma in 1920 he died in 1924
The grandma was called Kate mills a war widow
apparently they had a son who died also called Francis
Address was either queens rd or 3ct5 Thomas st
Any help appreciated

Hi Linda,

A little confused by what you are asking.

If he was a refugee I presume he would have to have been registered.

Maybe if you start with Sheffield Archives they would be able to direct you better than we can.

There are a number of Kate Mills on the 1911 census in Sheffield but we would need more information than you have given us to find her. What was her husbands name.Roughly how old was she.

We had an earlier thread about Belgian refugees arriving at the beginning of Ww1. In that one Angela reported that some of the refugees were put up in the Workhouse so they are in the workhouse registers. However many others were put up elsewhere.
