Burial of Jane Sullivan 1916

Hi

I have a question regarding the burial of my 3xgreat-aunt, Jane Sullivan, in 1916. The service was held in St. Mary’s church in Walkley, denomination C of E, but it looks like she’s buried in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Rivelin Valley, which I thought was a Catholic cemetery. There was every chance that Jane was RC but would it be usual for the service to be held in a C of E church?

Thanks
Carol

Re: Burial of Jane Sullivan 1916

Buried in grave B667 in St Mary's Cemetery (Walkley Cemetery) Judging from our plans there is no gravestone.

B667
PRYOR Ellen 29 May 1895 137 Creswick St 19m Hugh N Smith
PRYOR James 15 Sep 1895 137 Creswick St 36y Thomas Smith
THOMPSON Thomas Samuel 28 Aug 1898 Ct3 Watkin Lane 2y Thomas Smith
THOMPSON Frank 10 Oct 1898 Ct3 Watkin Walkin Lane 11m Hugh N Smith
SULLIVAN Jane 3 Feb 1916 42 Myrtle Rd. 79y T.M. Archer
THOMPSON Ernest 7 May 1917 5 Dutton Rd. 15y [no minister listed]
[name/date of burial/address or place where death occurred/age/minister]

T.M. Archer was a curate at St Mary's who later became Vicar.

Jane's daughter Ada, with whom she was living in 1911, was married at St Bartholomew's, an Anglican church. Ada is buried in the consecrated part of Burngreave Cemetery - which also suggests they were CofE.

Where was Jane's husband Michael buried? (not in Walkley)

Hugh
