I'm trying to find the parents of Thomas Jubb born around 1804/05. I've found a baptism 16th Sept 1804 with parents Thomas (a filesmith) and Hannah and have searched for siblings but the only ones I have found list father Thomas as a silversmith/silver plater.
Is it feasible that Thomas could become a silversmith after being a filesmith?
William Jubb son of Thomas and Hannah, filesmith, bap 29 September 1799, Sheffield
Parish Church.
Mary Jubb dau of Thomas and Hannah, bap 3 September 1802, Sheffield Parish Church.
There is no image of this online, so don't know if this if the Thomas, filesmith.
Marriage, 28 August 1796, Sheffield Parish Church.
Thomas Jubb, bat, to Hannah Gregory, spin, both of this parish.
Witnesses: Mary Stead and William Jubb.
There is a burial on the 18 August 1812 at the Sheffield Parish Church
for a Thomas Jubb, filesmith.
I thought there must be two families as I didn't think it feasible that Thomas the filesmith then became a silversmith.
I found the marriage between Thomas and Hannah Gregory so with William's baptism it all falls into place. Thanks for finding the other siblings and the burial of Thomas snr.
In 1841 Thomas jnr is a furniture broker but on his children's baptisms his occupation is a file cutter! On the 1851 he is listed as being a furniture broker and a file manufacturer.
