I notice sometimes there is a reference number for God Parents. how can I find out about this?

The reference number is for the whole document, NOT the godparents. If there were god parents they would be shown in the record. Godparents are rare and are restricted to RC records. The ~ after godparents: means there were none recorded.

I don't think God parents were restricted to Roman Catholic baptisms. God parents are recorded on my baptism at St John's,
Park.

Yes I understand that in some 20th century records in some churches there are godparents. We are working to correct the problem
