Michael Spoor and Eliza Wright marriage 1822

Michael Spoor (1800-1863) married Eliza Wright (abt 1800-1843)at St. Peter's in Sheffield on 23 Sept 1822. I have been unable to determine Eliza's parentage. I am hoping someone has access to the marriage information which lists, at least, her Father. Thank you kindly! Sincerely, Patricia Hughes

Re: Michael Spoor and Eliza Wright marriage 1822

Hi Patricia,

Eliza death and burial.

SPOOR, Eliza (, died on ?, at the age of 43).
Resided at Sheffield,Daisy Walk and buried on 31 Dec 1843 in ? ground;
Grave Number ?, Section ? of Sheffield Parish Church Cemetery, City Centre.
Notes: . Place of Birth: . Parent(s): Michael(filesmith).

I found four of their children had all died prior to their mother dying.
Ann the last one in 1840. I was unable to find them on the 1841 census on Ancestry and on our index. I then realized that Ann who died in 1840 & Eliza in 1843 had both died at Daisy Walk.

From that on my discs I found that they were enumerated as SPOONER not Spoor.

Michael Spooner aged 36 File smith not born in county.
Eliza aged 36 not born in county.
Richard aged 10 born in County.

Looks as if Michael came from Newcastle upon Tyne maybe Eliza also.
I dont have the full printout of the marriage. Just the index. #R/174/522.

Fingers crossed that someone with FMP can turn it up. No image on Ancestry.

Hi Patricia

Unfortunatley the marriage record doesnt give any further information:

Michael Spoor of this parish Batchelor and Eliza Wright of this Parish Spinster
Married by Banns

Both Bride and Groom signed with a mark.

Witnesses - James Mculloe (?) and Joseph Hudson

Hello Denise! thank you very much for taking the time to look this up for me. Sadly, it appears Eliza Wright will remain somewhat of a mystery. Sincerely, Patricia Hughes

Re: Michael Spoor and Eliza Wright marriage 1822

Hi Pat,

From the 1841 census neither of them were born in YORKSHIRE.

Have you tried Family Search for them in the Newcastle area. Spoor seems like a more common name in that area.

Re: Michael Spoor and Eliza Wright marriage 1822

Hello Barry and thanks for this find. One that certainly bears checking out further. Sincerely, Pat

Re: Michael Spoor and Eliza Wright marriage 1822

Hello all. Thus far, I have looked at both County Durham and Northumberland for a possible for Eliza Wright born about 1800. No joy there, so I am beginning to think that Barry's find in Sheffield may, indeed, be "my" Eliza Wright. Your most helpful responses have encouraged me to try to extend this family a wee bit further and I will make another separate posting hoping for more information on Michael and Eliza's surviving son, Robert. Stay Tuned! Thanks again! Pat

Re: Michael Spoor and Eliza Wright marriage 1822

Hi Pat

Yes I'd had a good wide search and had come to the same conclusion. Particularly as Eliza and Michaels first child was Mary (possibly named after Elizas mother?).
