I have just received a copy birth certificate for Ann Maria France born 05 - 01 1838 in lower Ecclesall living at Woodcock's yard Rockingham Lane Sheffield. Her fathers name is given as Jude France and her mothers name is given as Ann France nee Storks but the only marriage I can find for Jude France is to Ann Mellor 27 - 09 - 1830 in Handsworth Yorkshire FHL Film Number 990889. could there be a mistanscript of Jude's first name?.

Perhaps Ann STORKS had been married to a MELLOR before she married Jude FRANCE.

I see from the 1851 census two children, Charles and George are listed as son-in-law which could mean stepson, and have taken Jude's surname.

Benjamin Mellor and Ann Stork.

Ann France, 3. All born in county.
I checked the original and Jude is down as John.

Thank you very much for your very kind reply. I have a marriage record for a Benjamin Mellor to a Ann Stork on the 18 - 01 - 1819 at Sheffield Cathedral but Benjamin died in 1826 in Sheffield. At the time of Ann Maria's birth in 1838 her mother was married to Jude France.
so I think this is what I was looking for.

I think I have now found what I was looking for, Ann storks Married Benjamin Mellor 18 - 01 - 1819 at Sheffield Cathedral. Benjamin died in 1826 and then in 1838 Ann married Jude France. so I am now hoping I have got this correct.
