FIRST 5,000

Hi All,

I heard that Sheffield had about 5,000 residents when records began and wonder if any of you know if there is a list of who these 'Sheffielders' are?

Julie

Re: FIRST 5,000

Hi Julie,

Which RECORDS are you talking about? Just a nudge always state dates and names if you require help.

If you look over to the left you will see we transcribed the 1841 census which you can search. It was the very first census available.

"Sheffield - Indexing completed. Revised February 15, 2008.
There are 138,824 records in the online 1841 Census database."

Parish Records go back to about 1559. We have from 1635.

Use the Parish Records we have transcribed and then scroll down to see what is there.
By using the INDEX there are many records you will find useful.

Kindest regards

Elaine in Ottawa.
