Thomas Henry Thorpe

I am trying to find out information on Thomas Henry Thorpe, dob 1856 Thurlstone occupation (clerk) we understand that he went to stand for Town Clerk in Penistone but cannot find any record of this, parents Henry and Jane (Hawley) Thorpe. Thomas Henry Thorpe married Martha Ann Crabtree in 1881 I think they married in Bradford. after 1881 I cannot find any trace of Thomas. His wife is found in Bradford in 1911 as married. Looking for when he died and where.

Re: Thomas Henry Thorpe

Hi Marlene,

In the Barnsley Chronicle dated 27 Aug 1887, there is an article about the
Endowed Schools Act, re the Free Grammar School.
At the bottom is says that Copies of the Scheme may be obtained from
Mr Thomas H. Thorpe, St Mary's Chambers, Penistone.

Re: Thomas Henry Thorpe

Hi Marlene,

1901 census, 8 Ranters St, Bradford.
Martha Ann Thorpe, head, Widow, 39, born Bradford.
Florrie Thorpe, dau, 17, born Peniston.
Madge Thorpe, dau, 14, Mill hand, born Peniston.
Alfred Thorpe, son, 13, printer, born Peniston.
Gaythorne Thorpe, son, 12, born Peniston.
Mabel Thorpe, dau, 11, born Peniston.
Minnie Thorpe, dau, 7, born Bradford.
I checked the birth registration for Gaythorne and the mothers maiden name is Crabtree.

In 1891, the family are at Holme Top Street, Bradford.
Martha Ann is head of household and is married, but she is 'living on her own means'

In 1911, she is down as a 'Musician piano player'.

Moira.
