Parents of Frank Botterill (1909-1962)

Hi All,
I would be really grateful for some help.
I have been doing my tree for a number of years, but one area has always been a problem. My maternal grandfather Frank Botterill doesn't appear to have a birth certificate, which I find hard to believe. I cant get a definite mother for him.
His father is Thomas Botterill (1875-1929) I believe, but the mother "Emma" is a bit more elusive as I don't think they ever married, in fact I think it was a bit of a scandal that Thomas left his wife Mary Ellen, to have three children with Emma Somebody and I don't know the name of the other two offspring. She started calling herself Emma Botterill in later years and died in 1942, Sheffield Royal hospital.
Two names that I have are Emma Plant Sweet or Emma Booth, but I'm not sure if either are correct.
I would be so pleased to solve this 15 year long problem.
Thanks anyone who can help,
Jayne.

Re: Parents of Frank Botterill (1909-1962)

Thank you. So Emma Booth seems to be the one. Even though the birth of Frank is illegitimate would I still be able to get a birth cert in the usual way?, sorry for sounding so dumb!! So Thomas appears to have left his wife or she may have died and is lodging with Emma.... I do wish I had asked more questions when family were still alive!! lol.

You can order the birth cert in the usual way.
The prices go up on 16th Feb, so get the order in quickly.

Edit From GRO INDEX Elsie Booth was born Sheffield Q1 1901 with mother maiden name SWEET

That's great everyone, thanks so much!!
That gives me plenty to be going on with.

Re: Parents of Frank Botterill (1909-1962)

Emma Sweet married Henry Booth Sheffield Q2 1895
From GRO they had 2 children, Gladys 1897 and Elsie 1901.
Cannot find an obvious death for Henry in that period, unless he was very old.
