Leavesley

Good evening everyone, a favour please !

I have a printed sheet from the 1901 Census, but no location given.
The reference no is RG 13/4377
There are 25 entries on the sheet, all female.
Line 19 shows Martha Leavesley, Widow, the age difficult to read appears to be 83.
Her profession / occupation is shown as a Woolen Hosier.
She was born in Nottingham.

Could you tell me the location please
Is it a Workhouse ?

Re: Leavesley

Hi Roger,

It is the Sheffield Union Workhouse, Fir Vale, Pitsmoor,
Sheffield, Brightside Bierlow.

Moira.

Re: Leavesley

It does actually say Workhouse on the ancestry page and she is down as pauper. In 1881 she is down as furniture broker living Eyre Lane.

Re: Leavesley

You can find her burial on the records on this site - I think there is also another Martha Leavesley who maybe her granddaughter.

Re: Leavesley

Hi Moira and Sue, many thanks for the information given

Roger

Re: Leavesley

This advertisement was placed in the Sheffield Daily Telegraph regularly between 8th March 1881 and 7th May 1881:

CAST-OFF CLOTHING WANTED, Ladies' or Gentlemen's, utmost value, Cash payments, appointments attended.--Mr. and Mrs.Leavesley, Eyre street, Sheffield

Re: Leavesley

Roger
