Hi, Just wondering if someone can point me in the right direction. I am doing my family tree and have tracked a Richard Slater in the 1891 census record as living on 26 Smithfield, sheffield, municipal ward- st philips, ecclesiastical parish/district- St judes and he died shortly after this census. Not being from Sheffield I am wondering if anyone knows where he would likely have been buried? I have checked your burial records and nothing came up. Thanks
Hi Richard This looks like him Richard SLATER, Labourer, died aged 49 on 24 November 1892 Abode 26 Smithfield Buried 28 November 1892 General Cemetery Grave No.18906 Section W2/64 Vicki
Hi Vicki, Thanks for that information, really appreciate it. Can you tell me how you found it so I can be more efficient searching in the future? Thanks Richard
I went to the cemetery and there was nothing there, I read something about 800 graves being cleared to make a recreational area so I'm assuming this is what has happened as it has nicely laid grass etc.
