Re: Tyas

Thank you Helen, yes one of those senior moments - it is Francis not Frederick!
I think I have found Royal - she married John charles Madden known as King and there is a death notice in 2001 for her as Royal King. It sounds like a tragic family.
As I said its quite a distant relationship but very interesting!!

Also found something on Francis's death saying he kissed his wife and three little children before going off to commit suicide - so who are the 3 children - obviously Royal is one.

Re: Tyas

Susan,
According to GRO index Goodall Collinson and His wife Harriet nee Ranyard had no children
The same source confirms George Tyas and his wife Christiana Nee Ranyard had 5 children. They were George Ernest 1894, Harriet 1897, William 1899 (died 1900), Ernest 1901, and Frederick 1904 (died 1905).
Therefore the Ernest who travelled to Sydney in 1913 as Collison was actually Ernest Tyas. Also, I cannot find a passage foot Harriet Tyas ,but in 1915 a Harriet Collison born 1898 travelled to Sydney from UK.
I suggest that Ernest and Harriet Tyas were 'adopted' by the Childless Collinsons

Re: Tyas

My apologies. There were 2 William Tyas born 1899 so there is no guarantee that the one who died in 1900 was the son of Christiana and George Tyas.
Therefore the William Tyas , son of Tyas/Ranyard may have survived to be the one with the Collinsons in 1911. That just confirms that Christianas children, with the possible exception of one, were effectively adopted by the Collisons.

Re: Tyas

I know that Goodall and Harriett Collinson had two children - Willie in 1898 and Ernest in 1903 both born Dewsbury area. Christiana and George did have 5 but 3 survived all born in Sheffield.
Harriett Collinson left England with son Ernest for Australia 1914 following Goodall - he arrived in Australia in 1912.

Re: Tyas

Apologies again. My mistake was in not checking alternative spellings. Ernest and Willie Collinson show up in Dewsbury with mmn Rengyard.

Re: Tyas

Susan
I believe that Harriet Tyas travelled from UK to Sydney in 1915 in the name of Harriet Collinson age 17 and travelling with her was her cousin William (Willie) Collinson also age 17. They presumably travelled as brother and sister for "convenience". You can see these records on FMP
Dave

Re: Tyas

I haven't been able to find the travel details Dave, can you point me to the link.

Re: Tyas

On Find My Past search for William Collinson born 1898. Then Search for Harriet Collinson born 1898.
Do you have subs with FMP?
Dave

Re: Tyas

Hi Dave, yes got a sub to fmp and now found Willie's war record. I had always assumed he stayed in England so something else to research.

He seems to have been a casualty and in 2nd Birmingham Hospital -

Re: Tyas

Got to now try and find the three children that Francis Xavier Wond kissed when he went off to commit suicide. The article read
he kissed his wife and three little children before going off to commit suicide - so who are the 3 children - obviously Royal Wond is one.

Re: Tyas

Some success already found Raymond Wond died 1937 and the picture of his grave shows he is with his mother Harriet(Tyas-Wond) Patterson who only died in 1990. Just think if I had started this family history lark earlier I may have had more answers!!

Re: Tyas

From the Sydney Morning Herald, Nov. 15, 1937
Wond- November 12, 1937 at Balmain Hospital, Raymond Wond, beloved son and stepson of Mr. and Mrs. T.W. Patterson of 45 Lenore Street, Fivedock and brother of Royal and Frank, aged 18 years.
Edit: Coroner's report re Raymond's death is that he died of injuries received when his motor cycle accidentally collided with an electric tram car.
