1911 Census look up please

A favour please !

I would like someone to locate a Walter and Annie Pearson in Sheffield in the 1911 Census
Walter would be age 38 and Annie 25

From the Free BMD site they were married in the September qtr of 1904

I have been given a Walter and Annie at 301 Staniforth Road.
Although Walters age is given as 38, Annie's age is given as 49 which appears to be incorrect
i.e. a birth certificate exists for her showing her date of birth as 18th of November 1886

Looking forward to a reply

Roger Stevenson

Re: 1911 Census look up please

There is a Walter and Annie Pearson living at 9 Court 5 Matthew Street Sheffield. Annie is aged 24 and Walter 36. There is also a son, also named Walter aged 5. Walter Snr occupation is cogger.

Re: 1911 Census look up please

Hi Roger.

Was she Annie Stuart before marriage?

Re: 1911 Census look up please

The Walter at Staniforth Road appears to be a Walter Gledhill Pearson. He signs the census W g Pearson. They were the only Walter and Annie I could find living in Sheffield he is down as engineering fitter and they have a daughter Adelaide who is 7.

Walter Gledhill Pearson married
Name: Walter Gledhill Pearson
Birth Year: abt 1872
Marriage Date: 23 Nov 1901
Parish: Manchester, St Mary, St Denys and St George
Father's name: Walter Pearson
Spouse's Name: Annie Eliza Howard

Adelaide Alice Pearson born Sheffield 1903 - mothers maiden name Howard

there also appears another birth in 1916 which maybe the same family

Re: 1911 Census look up please

Hi
The marriage of Walter Pearson and Annie Stuart was on 18 July at St Ann's Church, Netherthorpe.
Annie's father was William and Walter's father was Frederick.

This is Annie's baptism from this site

STUART, Annie (of Oakes Green, born 1886-11-18).
Baptised July 24, 1889, by G Depledge at Christ Church, Attercliffe.
Parents name(s) are Sarah & William (Labourer)

Walter's baptism
Pearson, Walter (of 20 Dun Fields, born ~).
Baptised March 21, 1877, by C R Killick at St Philips Church, Shalesmoor.
Parents name(s) are Mary Ann & Frederick (Roller).

I think the 1911 census that Claire found may be the correct one-
"There is a Walter and Annie Pearson living at 9 Court 5 Matthew Street Sheffield. Annie is aged 24 and Walter 36. There is also a son, also named Walter aged 5. Walter Snr occupation is cogger."

Walter junior's birth on the GRO index confirms mother's maiden name is Stuart

Hope this helps

Re: 1911 Census look up please

We could do with a little feed back from Roger to see if any of us are on the right track.

Re: 1911 Census look up please

The GRO index also confirms that this Pearson-Stuart marriage produced:
Ada born and died q3 1904
Charles born q2 1909, died q1 1911. His burial is on this site
Frederick born q1 1913
Alfred born q1 1916

Re: 1911 Census look up please

Hi everyone, 2 Susan's especially

Many thanks for the information you have provided.
I must apologise for more than a few senior moments !
I am fully aware of the information provided on this site over to the left and really ought to have thought more and looked as I should have !

I am an intermittent researcher i.e. your patience please, could be a while before I get back on here with questions about what you have found for me.

Re: 1911 Census look up please

This is correct for my family too, although my great grandfather William Henry was not with the family as he was in the Royal hospital as he had his arm severed in the rolling mills.
