I have found a relative of mine in the Parish baptisms section. Within the record is a reference to the Godparents. How do I find out where to go to see this record?

Paul, this is a recurring misunderstanding with these records. If you search here for a posting last November by Elaine entitled "For new researchers" you will see the full explanation. In short, no godparents were in the record. If they were, they would be in the transcription.

Hi Paul,

As Dave mentioned the question pops up every so often and I have replied.

I would just like to point out that the Anglican records do not show who the godparents were but the RC ones do. Where it reads Godparents you will also note that there is a TILDE i.e. ~ showing, which tells you that there was no further information in the actual register. Keep that in mind for our transcriptions.
