Re: James White 1780 - 1858

Hi Alan,

I dont know if this is going to help any but the only burial I have found is the following.

WHITE, James (~, died on ~, at the age of ~).
Resided at ~ and buried on 20 Aug 1780 in ~ ground;
Grave Number ~, Section ~ of St Paul Cemetery, Sheffield.
Notes: Son of Samuel. Place of Birth: ~. Parent(s): ~.

Is that one of the ones you were trying to eliminate?

Re: James White 1780 - 1858

Hello Elaine
Yes that is one of the burials that I saw on Find My Past but unfortunately they do not give an age at death so I am none the wiser as to which one I am looking at. It does not help that I am not exactly certain who his parents were. If as I suspect it was the James born in 1780 to William & Hannah then that would rule out this James.
I am also assuming that the Elizabeth Fenton who he married in 1812 is the correct marriage. This is based on the birth/baptism of Mary Ann 1813 to James & Elizabeth & also James 1814.
What I have found from FMP is:
James White born 1782 married 1812 (Elizabeth Fenton)

James White born 1780 parents Will. & Hannah
James White born 1780 parents Samuel ?

James White burial 1780 father Samuel
James White burial 1782 father William

So could these 2 births & burials be the same & am I looking for a different birth for the James who married Elizabeth Fenton
