Re: John Eyre, Blacksmith b Sheffield 1820

Hi John, Are you sure he was born in Sheffield and not Snaith near Goole. I have found a John Eyre born 1822 Owston, parents John Eyre and Hannah. I also found a marriage of John Eyre to Hannah Brown 9 November 1812 Owston. Also John Eyre born 10 November 1785 Owston. Did your John Eyre Marry Mary Ann Nichols July 1847 Sheffield? regards Barry.

Re: John Eyre, Blacksmith b Sheffield 1820

Hi John,

John Eyre Jnr appears to have been baptised 28 Jan 1824 at Sheffield Parish Church, but born 30 March 1820, parents John and Mary, blacksmith.

There are some more baptism at Sheffield Parish Church where the parents are
John and Mary, blacksmith....
Thomas Eyre born 21 Dec 1823, baptised 28 Jan 1824.
Charlotte Eyre born 26 Apr 1818, baptised 17 May 1818.
George Eyre born 6 Apr 1815, baptised 17 May 1818.
Harriet Eyre born 6 Aug 1813, baptised 29 Aug 1813.

I have not found a marriage in Sheffield as yet, but will keep looking.

Moira.

Re: John Eyre, Blacksmith b Sheffield 1820

Good afternoon Barry

Thank you so much for responding so promptly. I have no actual proof but a strong assumption that John Eyre snr was not from Goole. The parents of John Eyre 1820 are shown in Sheffield Indexers lists as John and Mary, not Hannah

Good Afternoon Moira

Thank you very much for such a prompt and informative reply. I am a little stunned !

I only found John Eyre 1820 and Thomas 1823 from the Sheffield Indexers lists. The other three Eyres you mention are completely new to me and I have never seen them in any records. Can i ask please where exactly you found them ?

Thanks again for your efforts on my behalf.
