Was this a Paupers Grave?

I'm looking a the following grave -
Grave Number 7438, Section V1 of City Road
The burials are several years apart as you can see. Is this a family grave?
Thanks

If you could give us a name it might help us let you know what I think is happening.

Re: Was this a Paupers Grave?

Hi Elaine
George Phillipson is buried here.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Was this a Paupers Grave?

Morning Karen,

I can not tell from the contents of V1 7438 if they are related.

City Road has three Clasifications of Grave types.

Purchased which explains its self.

Common and Margin.

Margin was usually set aside for stillbirths and neonatal deaths but not always.

The Common grave is where it was purchased for a set number of burials i.e. husband & wife. Once the terms were met it would then be sold on.

AS George was buried in 1940 Did they still have pauper graves?
How about getting in touch with City Road and asking them.
