Good evening, I am trying to chip away at a wall !!
My husbands 4 x great grand father was we believe William Smith Turner ( Cutler ) born in Sheffield in approx 1791 . Parents Joseph Turner and Elizabeth Smith. What I cant find is a marriage , I have followed up several Sarah Taglin / Jacklin being the current Mrs Turner !!
William Smith Turner seems to have been an apprentice to Samuel Bagnall in around 1806. As far as I am aware his first child Elizabeth was born in 1824 and baptised Turner, Elizabeth (of Sheffield, born 1824-03-09). Baptised June 16, 1824, by M Preston at Sheffield Parish Church, Church Street, Sheffield. Parents name(s) are Sarah & William Smith (Cutler).
Any help on searching a marriage for William Smith Turner and Sarah would be so very appreciated .
There is a marriage record on Family Search website:
William Turner (no Smith) married Sarah Jacklin
23 April, 1821 at Teversall, Nottingham
On the same website there is a birth for Sarah Jacklin:
Born: 6 April, 1795 - Baptized: 6 April 1795 (unusual to have same birth and baptismal dates....???
Parents: William Jacklin and Sarah Wood
Have not found any birth matches for Elizabeth Turner or William Smith Turner either.
Good Luck
Thank you all for your research and work . Moira I skipped over the marriage to Sarah Thompson but as you pointed out Williams age 21 , fits . I will look further. Thank you . Alex x
