After checking the problem out we found that the entry in the Burial Register had been entered incorrectly. They had left out the letter "H" as Moira suggested.
I have added the correct Name in the notes in our database as we cannot alter the Burial
Register.
Yes Elaine, I will go up to Abbey Lane soon and check the plot out as just in case there is a headstone it might help solve this riddle as to the names. John
Just been to Abbey Lane and unfortunately there is no headstone so no clues. You state that Sarah died in hospital but where was she living before she was admitted as that might help us find her burial. John

Hi Moira
Thats all spot on info....and Sarah Louise was at Barkers Road when she died...hence my puzzlement as to why she wasn't buried with William...
Updated news everyone... following a funeral at Cemetery Road Congregational Church Sarah Louise was cremated and then had her ashes placed in her husband's grave on 24th November 1954 in a private ceremony witnessed by her son Walter. This came to light following contact witt the funeral directors who are still in business and had records!
