Hello, I wonder if someone could please advise me? I found the following entry in the Indexes:
ATLEY, Roy (, age 1 wk).
Died at City General Hospital; Buried on February 17, 1941 in Consecrated ground;
Grave Number 8, Section P9 of Burngreave Cemetery, Sheffield.
Parent or Next of Kin if Available: . Remarks: Officiating Minister: R W Fitton: Removed from Sheffield Parish.

I cannot find the birth or death of this child in BMD, is it possible that he wasn't registered? And can someone please tell me what 'Removed from Sheffield Parish' means? Thank you for any help :)

Re: Atley

Hello Glenda,

I don't find him on FMP, Ancestry or the GRO.

Sorry to be of no use.Probably the records were destroyed in the war but the blitz was 1940.

Re: Atley

Both his birth and death are in Free BMD under OTLEY, Roy. His mmn was Ledger

Re: Atley

Thank you Dave, I will look at the Otley entries, its quite possible with the Sheffield accent of the time that he is 'mine' Glad to have him 'found' :)

Re: Atley

Thank you for looking Terry :)

Re: Atley

The original can read as either A or O, so I have amended the surname to Otley
