Re: Sydney Flower died in 1916 His wife supposed to have died in 1935??

Hugh, This ties in with the burial record, where it says Jane was buried the 24th January 1935
Would Elaine be able to make a correction??
Thanks Barry

Re: Sydney Flower died in 1916 His wife supposed to have died in 1935??

From GRO index, Percy Flower born 1892 mmn Cawthorne. The burial record must be a mistranscription

We will look into it.

If it is our transcription error we can and do make alterations.

If its an error by the church or cemetery we can't, but we will make a note of it in the NOTES Column.

Dave I have now got the marriage certificate, its difficult to read. It looks as though both Sydney and Jane were illegitimate, neither had the parents on the record, Jane was 18 and Sydney was 22, both living on DUKE STREET. Cawthorne may have been spelt Cawtharne.

Re: Sydney Flower died in 1916 His wife supposed to have died in 1935??

Hi Barry,

On the 1891 census, Sydney gives his place of birth as Barlow, Dby.

On the 1881 census there is a Sidney Flowers, step-son, born Barlborough, Dby. He is with George and Clara Storey and their three children, at Killamarsh.

Sidney Flower bap 1 February 1863 at Barlborough, mother - Clara Flower.

Moira.

Update. Just had a look at the marriage on FMP. One of the witnesses
was Blanch Storey.

Re: Sydney Flower died in 1916 His wife supposed to have died in 1935??

Hi Barry/Hugh/DaveT,

The Burial Registers are very hard to read apparently but Christine believes it could be Flower as a Jane Flower purchased the plot.

Before I change it in our database I will wait until Christine has time to visit City Road and check it out from the actual register.

Good suggestion Dave.

Barry,

Christine managed to acess the original at City Road Cemetery and Jane Howe is indeed Jane Flower.

I have corrected our error.
