Sydney Flower died in 1916 His wife supposed to have died in 1935??
Sydney Flower died in 1916, (correct on the Sheffield index Burials)
His wife supposed to have died in 1935??
On the Sheffield indexes Sydney has another person in the grave, a Jane HOWE
If this was his wife I am unable to find a marriage for Jane Flower to a Mr. Howe, after Sydney died.
Jane Cawthorne born abt. 1867 at Intake, Yorkshire married Sydney in 1885 in Sheffield.
According to the 1871 & 1881 census Jane was living with grandparents.
If this is Sydney's wife, the age is slightly different 68 instead of 64 on the Burials.
On Free BMD there is a death for a Jane Flower in 1935 age 67 (Sheffield)
There is also a Jane Flower death 1935 in Ashbourne age 68
Perhaps I have a date of Jane's birth incorrect??
If this is not Sydney's wife who is the person buried with him??
appreciate a little help
Thanks Barry

Re: Sydney Flower died in 1916 His wife supposed to have died in 1935??
Hugh, This ties in with the burial record, where it says Jane was buried the 24th January 1935
Would Elaine be able to make a correction??
Thanks Barry

Dave I have now got the marriage certificate, its difficult to read. It looks as though both Sydney and Jane were illegitimate, neither had the parents on the record, Jane was 18 and Sydney was 22, both living on DUKE STREET. Cawthorne may have been spelt Cawtharne.

Hi Barry,
On the 1891 census, Sydney gives his place of birth as Barlow, Dby.
On the 1881 census there is a Sidney Flowers, step-son, born Barlborough, Dby. He is with George and Clara Storey and their three children, at Killamarsh.
Sidney Flower bap 1 February 1863 at Barlborough, mother - Clara Flower.
Moira.
Update. Just had a look at the marriage on FMP. One of the witnesses
was Blanch Storey.
