Help Needed

Hi, i'm doing some research on my family and i have info from a distant family member about the ward family and i,m having trouble finding two members who i believe were born in 1873 and 1877. i have found them on the 1881 census living with their parents but i cant find their births with the GRO. Miriam was born in Attercliffe in 1873, and Kate also born Attercliffe in 1877, their parents were called Thomas and Jane Ward ( nee Meek) The other info i have about the ward family is accurate as i have found them on the GRO and census's .
can any please help locate Miriam and Kate ?
Thanks in Advance

Re: Help Needed

Hi Ann,
The births are on GRO as follows
Miriam Ward, Sept qtr 1872, Sheffield 9c 481. mothers surname Meeke
Kate Ward, Dec qtr 1876, Sheffield 9c 591. Mothers surname Meck

The difference in mothers surnames may be errors on certificate or transcription.
Good hunting, John

Re: Help Needed

Hi Ann,

When one way fails there are always ways to have another crack at the whip.

Dont forget you have.

The GRO...... you know the URL for that.

The Sheffield Council BMDs http://libplugins.sheffield.gov.uk/bmd/Home.aspx

FreeBMD which I am sure you will also have the URL.

The Council site was transcribed for them by S&DFHS and have found many errors so always check there as well if the GRO & FreeBMD dont turn up the folks you need.

FreeBMD used the GRO index. So if there was an error with the GRO index there will be one on FreeBMD. I am more or less sure of this fact but I am sure Angela will let us know if I am not.
