Looking for George Taylor, brewer

Can somebody help track down a George Taylor (no relation!) please. On 1st Jan 1837 he married Mary Jenkinson at the St. Peter & St. Paul (the cathedral). His daughter Mary Taylor was born 26 Nov 1843 and she was baptised at St. Marie's RC church on 17 Dec 1843. She married Henry Cowlishaw at St. John's (Park) on 15 Dec 1861 and it was reported in the Sheffield Daily Telegraph when her father was described a a brewer. I can find no other refeence to him e.g. in censuses.

Many thanks Helen, it looks like George is a brother of Mary.

Thank you Dave, found it now.

Re: Looking for George Taylor, brewer

Thank you Moira. Found this census now although there is clearly something wrong with David's age. Buried in the same grave as George Taylor is William Henry Cowlishaw son of Henry Cowlishaw and Mary Taylor. Also just found Henry's probate record in Hartford, Connecticut, confirms their date of marriage and their surviving children.

Re: Looking for George Taylor, brewer

In 1871, David Taylor age 40, is shown as brother in law to head of household, Mary Taylor age 54, and her children Ellen M., William J., and Ann Elizabeth. Therefore he is more likely to be George Taylor's brother than son. Mistakes were made when censuses were taken. I know I have at least one case of a younger brother being declared a son on one census.

Re: Looking for George Taylor, brewer

Thank you Helen. In the 1841 census there are just two children - as expected, Ellen and John.
