My Dad's school

My Dad who is 89 was born is Tinsley and went to school there. He is wanting to come back and see his old school. He says it was Tinsley Council School. Does anyone know more about this school or if it still exists. Dad passed his 11 plus but did not finish his education because of the war but did go on the do a 7 year apprenticeship as a carpenter/cabinet maker.

Re: My Dad's school

Hi Irene,

Looking at old newpaper reports, there was a Tinsley Council School
at Plumpers Road, off Shepcote Lane, but it was demolished in 1966.
Another was on Bawtry Road, but was a Church of England School.
There was another but I can't place where it was.

If you Google 'Picture Sheffield' and enter Tinsley School, there are
pictures of two of them. Perhaps your Dad might be able to recognise
the school he went to.

Moira.
