Re: Brown-Denton Marriage Sheffield 1821

Hi Elaine,
Yes that certainly seems to be her. Also gives me an approximate birth date, something else I'm missing.

Many thanks,
Paul

Re: Brown-Denton Marriage Sheffield 1821

Hi Paul,

Glad to be able to help.

Now the outstanding mystery is why she signed the marriage register one way and yet the clerk gave her another name.

I dont have FindMyPast to see exactly what was written but mistakes where made.

I suppose the next quest would be to find a baptism for either Elizabeth Denton or Goodlad about 1805.

Check Family Search... there are two Elizabeth Dentons there in 1806
fathers names Charles & Richard.

Goodlad a little easier. Only one.

Name Elizabeth Goodlad
Gender Female
Christening Date 21 Nov 1806
Christening Place CATHEDRAL SAINT PETER,SHEFFIELD,YORK,ENGLAND
Birth Date 23 Oct 1806
Father's Name John Goodlad
Mother's Name Elizabeth

Her mother could have been widowed early and remarried a Denton with daughter
taking on her stepfathers surname. OR Visa-versa.

Never 100% sure are we LOL.
