Hi everyone ,
I am looking for help finding the burial of James Godbehere who died in Qtr 4 of 1864 .
Following information on the Family Search (Latter Day Saints) website I approached Wadsley Church recently to search for James' burial , however they don't seem to have any record of this .
The Family Search website shows a burial for James Godbehere on 28th September 1864 in Wadsley.
Further research on Family Search suggests his second wife Ann Godbehere was also buried in Wadsley on 23rd February on 1879. I'm assuming the same plot though not necessarily .
His first wife Mary Godbehere was buried at Christ Church Stannington on 20th July 1847 .
Has anyone any ideas where this 'Wadsley' would refer to ? , I understand the church records are presently at Sheffield Archives but these ought to match what the church themselves have . I'm a little gazumped and confused ...
any help appreciated
According to our transcriptions (S&DFHS)of the Wadsley Church burial register, we have the following.,
GODBEHERE James 28 Sep 1864 aged 78 of Bradfield.
GODBEHERE Ann 23 Feb 1879 aged 75 of Hillsborough.
Could it be that the church only has the more recent burial registers and all the early ones have been deposited at Sheffield Archives.
