John Stevensons 1832 Trail papers

I want to know where I can get a copy of John Stevenson's Court Trial Papers.
He was tried in West Riding Yorkshire 11 July 1832, sentenced to 14years & transported to Australia on the ship "Mary 4" arriving in 1833. The convict papers state he was born in 1814, but age at birth of children gives his birth year at 1819. Can you help

Re: John Stevensons 1832 Trail papers

Hi Karen,

Interesting story.... which I checked out on Ancestry.
On his death cert I see he was born in Sheffield probably illegitimate and a Razor Blade Maker.Aged 19yrs when convicted on the 11th July 1832.Stealing Poultry. His 2nd conviction.

As he was tried in York I would suggest you get in touch with the York Archives and see if they hold them.

His Ticket of leave dated Oct 1842. He had married in 1835 stating he was 21.
He had 8children and died in 1888 in Redfern NSW.aged 78.

Hope this helps.

Elaine in Ottawa.

Thanks Elaine, that was a great help, I could not work out on the document what the stealing poultry was, & you have answered it for me. Cheers
