I might be wrong but I think William Howes could have gone to America with Harriet and then returned home with a different wife. In the 1911 census there is a Howes family living at 25/4 house Woodside Lane . Pitsmoor, Sheffield

In 1891 Harriett Howe is living 101 Button Lane, a domestic servant to John Todd Fish merchant and his family. She is down as married but I haven't been able to find William Howe so maybe he had died by then.
