Hartshead

I have found on the IGI some late seventeenth century
baptisms. The place of baptism is given as Hartshead,
York, Eng.
Is this the Hartshead in Sheffield or was there a place
in Yorkshire called this?

Moira.

Re: Hartshead

The Hartshead listed on the IGI is the one near Dewsbury. It is St Peters, Hartshead and Patrick Bronte, the father of the Bronte sisters, was curate there in the early 1800's.

Re: Hartshead

Thanks Sue and John for your replies.

I'm now wondering if my Mallinson's migrated south
to Sheffield.

Kind regards,
Moira.
