I was just about to edit my earlier message - yes I found them in 1901 and someone has the tree on Ancestry.
Just found a service card for Leonard C Mitchell and he appears to have been in several regiments
Leonard C Mitchell
Hampshire Regiment, 9189
East Kent Regiment, 11102
Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment R,102484
King's Shropshire Light Infantry 44485

Was he a career soldier?

Dawn
Horace Leonard Charles Mitchell- married Mary Booth in Sheffield in 1936.
You mention that he went by the name Leonard, but Wouldn't the army require his full name ?.
Also as Angela T mentioned,on a previous post - many British Army service records from the first world war, were destroyed by german bombing during the second world war,and only about 40% of the records remain.
Kind regards Brian.

thankyou for your help

with regards to finding information out on some of the mitchell
family.

thanks again dwan
