Catherine Hannah Lester nee Kirk formerly Harmitt (or Armitt) - Help Needed!

Hi I am trying to trace a Catherine Hannah Lester nee Kirk formerly Harmitt, she puts her place of birth on the 1891 and 1901 census as Sheffield but is then married to Edwin Lester in St Pancras, Middlesex. The 1901 census puts her as being aged 48 so I am estimating a birth date of around 1856. Would be very grateful to hear from anybody with knowledge of her or her family as I am unable to find her birth. I know she died in 1903 in London leaving her youngest daughter, Catherine Agnes Lester, an orphan. Catherine Hannah Harmitt is my great-great grandmother.

Many thanks.

Gemma

Kate Hannah Bolton Ermett born in Sheffield 1851. She married William Kirt in London 1870 - the marriage certificate shows her as full age. Fathers name Joel Armett - manager of soap works

The findings that Sue gave are the closest but I think there is something wrong with the entry.

Births Mar 1851
Ermell Kate Hannah Bolton Sheffield 22 713
ERMETT Kate Hannah Bolton Sheffield 22 413

I would have Sheffield Registry Office check those two entries out for you.

The can't be to many Kate Hannah Boltons about.

This is the reference from the local register office index.

District: Sheffield South
Birth - Register 16 Page 31
Details: Kate Hannah Bolton ERMETT - 01/01/1850

This puts her year of birth as 1850 although she was registered in the March Q of 1851

After a bit more research it appears that the name Bolton is a name given to the family - I found Joel Bolton Armitt and there is a sibling to Kate(Catherine) called George Christopher Bolton Armitt born London 1856.So it would appear they did move to London. A family tree gives Joel Bolton Armitt 1829 to 1887. More research needed I think.
