Sarah Ann Hendrey

I'm looking into the history of my great aunt Sarah Ann Hendrey born in the June qtr 1873. I have found her on the 1881 census living with my great grandmother in Thorpe Hesley. In 1891 she was living as a servant at Sharrow area of Sheffield. She doesn't appear in 1901 census as far as I have searched. She married an Edward Allmand at Nether Edge register office Nov 1903 I have this certificate which states her residence 25 Oakdale Rd. I have her death certificate on order she died in 1904. Where was she in 1901 census ?
Thanks Brian

Re: Sarah Ann Hendrey

Brian, Not sure but I think I have found her if you use FMP look at 25 Oakdale Road via the address search or if you want the reference check RG13 piece 4538 folio 102 page 26. Could it be her name was spelt wrongly on the index come under HARDREY on FMP. John

Re: Sarah Ann Hendrey

Thanks for looking it seems her name was wrong on the 1901 census ! Just need to renew my subs to FMP and have a closer look.

Re: Sarah Ann Hendrey

I have now got a copy of Sarahs death certificate from March 1904. It states she died at The Bents Totley Sheffield was this a house? doctors? she died in childbirth. Where would she be buried from this area? she was Sarah Ann Allmand by marriage.
Thanks in advance

Re: Sarah Ann Hendrey

I did send you a copy of the 1901 census which shows Sarah Hardrey - she was a general servant and living Oakdale Road. If you didn't receive it let me know and I will resend.

Re: Sarah Ann Hendrey

It looks like Edward Allmand went back to live with his mother Eliza after Sarah Ann's death. The family were on Machon Bank Road in 1901 and 1891 so perhaps Sarah is buried near to there.
Could it be the General Cemetery?

Re: Sarah Ann Hendrey

Thankyou Moira for the record from Christ Church Dore. Does it say the plot number by any chance ? I doubt it there's a grave stone. I will have to pay a visit. Also thanks Sue for the census info. I was guessing Dora didn't survive for very long.

Hello Brian,

I'm sorry but it does not give the plot number.

Moira.
