Burials in Ecclesall

I am trying to locate the grave of Ralph Forster and his wife Harriet Storey.

Ralph died on 5th April 1870 and Harriet on 5th March 1892. They were from the Ecclesall area.

I have checked the records on this site with no luck.

Does anyone have a CD or MI book they could look through of other church yards in the area to see if there is any record of their burial.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Burials in Ecclesall

How old was Ralph when he died? I have a cd done by S&D FHS and there is a burial for Harriet Ann Forster buried 10 Mar 1892 of 13 Albany Road who died aged 68 and Eliza Anne Forster buried 19 Dec 1918 aged 59 of 955 Ecclesall Road and on 8th April 1870 of Osborne Road aged 56 there is a Ralph FOSTER so could this be a transcript error if it is him? Re: Burials in Ecclesall

Thanks for finding Ralph and Harriet's entries on the CD. These are the people I am looking for. Only thing is I am now a bit worried that I might have been following the wrong family.

I found their deaths from the newspapers.

If the Eliza Annie is their daughter I have.

I have an Annie Eliza Forster being my gr. grandmother. That I am sure of.

I have her death certificate with date of death January 1933.

I have on her marriage certificate that her father's name was Ralph and he was a Pawnbroker so when I found this Ralph and Harriet I thought I had the correct people. I wonder if there is another Ralph who was a Pawnbroker or if Eliza Annie was not their daughter. I hope that is the case. I hope you are following this as I think I am rambling.

Thanks for your help. I will need to think about this new information.

I will have a look at the 1881 census to see if that helps.

Re: Burials in Ecclesall

In what year was your Annie E Forster born? If it was 1877 I have found her in Sheffield lining with her mother called Emma and her STEP FATHER (on 1891 census)so could the Ralph and Harriet be not right. The people I found on the 1891 census were living at Handsworth area of the city. John

Re: Burials in Ecclesall

Hi Brian and John

Thanks for replying and sorry about delay in replying.

According to both marriage and death certificates Annie was born c 1856.

Her second marriage is in 1890 to a Henry Dronfield. I have her in all the future censuses and I am sure I have the correct Annie. Henry died in 1897 and is buried in City Road cemetery along with Annie's first husband Henry Odell.

Annie had three children to her first husband. First one born c 1878.

I don't have Annie in the 1881 census or her first marriage date.

On her marriage certificate to her second husband her father is down as Ralph, a pawnbroker.

Above, I am sure is correct.

Then I found an Annie being daughter to Ralph and Harriet born 1855. I need to prove I have the correct Ralph and Annie.

I don't have access to censuses. Could someone trace back the Eliza Annie who is mentioned as being buried with Ralph and Harriet to see if we can find out anything about her.

I hope this all makes sense.

Re: Burials in Ecclesall

Thanks for finding all that out for me.

I am feeling a bit happier that I have been following the correct Ralph.

When I read the information from the CD I assumed all three Forsters were in the same grave but that might not be the case can anybody advise Also is the CD available for purchase.

Thanks everybody who has helped me.

Re: Burials in Ecclesall

Hi Betty,

If you check the Sheffield & District Family History Society
Web Site out it will list all the projects they have completed
and can be purchased.

If your not in the UK it might be advisable to look at the Genfair site out which will enable you to purchase material from not only Sheffield but all Family History Societies across the county.
Another added plus is that you can use a credit card and they will mail your order where ever you live.

Hope this is helpful.
