I am searching for a marriage of William Golley to Ann about 1830 in Ireland. Ann has named Waterford as her birth place on subsequent census returns. Do any of you researchers have links to Ireland and can help with this search??

I find Roots chat message forum useful.
It's Ancestry hosted ,and free.
One is able to target specific countries, and counties, and ask the appropriate question.
It's suprising what resources are out there with various family history addicts.
Kind regards Brian.

Re: Irish records
Sue, I have just looked on the Rootsireland website and nothing came up, however they have not put the marriages for Waterford on the site yet so its possible that they could have married in the county its just that other options will have to be used to trace it. John

Re: Irish records
I am searching for a friend who doesn't have internet (can you believe it!!!) She has this Golley family in her tree - William Golley born Cornwall 1801 married in Ireland - she has a birth entry for one of the children born back in Cornwall and the mothers name is very blurred - looks like Priestley or Pressley. They had a child in Ireland another William Golley born about 1833. Next time I see her I will recommend the Rootsireland site. She visits me to use my computer!! I know you all like a challenge which is why I posted on here!!
Sue, Roots Ireland is a subscription site it is just that I have a few ancesters in ireland on my tree that is why i purchased some credits. I have just looked at the baptism section and not managed to find a william Golley born in 1833. The reason it might be difficult to trace is that if William born in 1801 in Cornwall said his name in a true cornish accent then how an vicar in ireland is going to interpret it I have no idea. John (ps this is by no means hopefully offending the people of cornwall and ireland in the way they speak apologises if it does) John

Re: Irish records
Sue, not sure on this but I think it might be worth checking out. I have just looked on the IGI and inputted William Golley. I have found a William Golley with a spouce Ann who had a child Mary baptised in 1826 in Guildford, Surrey. is this the correct family and hence William and Ann might not have married in Ireland or is it the wrong line you are looking at. I can't see a marriage for them in Ireland or England. I would suggest that you contact your local LDS centre where they will have a lot of records, but in the event that they do not have the Ireland ones, they can order a fiche for you to look at at a very small fee. You can view it for a period of one month. Of course that means you have to visit the centre to do that.
Can I suggest that you order another birth certificate for a different child and that may have a clearer mother's name! A search could then done on her instead of William.
I would also recommend you give Brian's suggestion a try on Rootschat. I have had some very good help from that site with one or two of my 'akward ones'!!
