Marriages

Hi
I am having difficulty in finding a marriage of William Eyre he married a Martha from Sheffield .
According to 1841 census they were living in Alderthwaite Milton.William was 50 yrs old born 1791 in the 1841 census Martha 40yrs born 1801 in 1851 Martha age 56 yrs born 1895 living in Stubbin.
William his death certificate buried 1848 Wentworth stated he was 61yrs born 1787 worked at the Milton Iron & Steel Works
.
I am thinking he might have been married twice because of the age gap between William & Martha
I found 4 of the younger children were bapt in Wentworth the 4 older children were born outside Alderthwaite.
I hope somebody can help me Jenny

Re: Marriages

Hi Jennifer,

Could they be buried at Wentworth where the four younger children were baptised? (I now see they were.) Alderthwaite came under Hoyland I believe.

Have you tried Rotherham for the marriage as Wath (1841) came under Rotherham

Have you traced all the children on the 1841 census as being the children of Martha.

Just a few observations but to be honest I dont know the area.

Elaine in Ottawa.
