My 2x grt/grandfather Stephen Ashby b1821 Chart Sutton, Kent
Found his baptism in 1836 Chart Sutton aged 16 re parish records - presume baptised before joining army.
Married 1847 Tamil Nadu,India to Sarah Ann Truslone re Familysearch.
On Irishgenealogy i found the baptism for his son, my grt/grandfather,1858 the parish church Ardmour Hill Barracks, Dublin, Ireland. This shows Stephen snr was a Sergant Major in the Kings Own Light Infantry.
1861 census he was living on Staplehurst Rd Kent occupation Chelsea Pensioner
1871 census he was publican & pensioner at the Lord Raglan, Staplehurst Rd Kent
He died at the Lord Raglan 1879
I've tried every site i can think of to find his army records but had no luck at all.I found his son Stephens army records easily.
Any ideas what to do next?

Try here they hold the Regimental Archives of the Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry whose predecors where the 51st Regiment of Foot.
