My 4th great grandfather is Robert HUNTER b. abt 1741 (LDS 422622).He was married to Ann (LDS 458911).The marriage took place in Sheffield but does not appear on any of the available resources except the familysearch as quoted.

His son, my 3rd great grandfather is also named Robert Hunter b. abt 1768 (LDS 5025384) He married Maria Longmire (LDS A4538911)and died Jul quarter 1840 (free bmd).

I have searched this site, ancestry.ca resources, and family search in order to find more hardened info and hopefully the parents of Robert (b abt 1741). Have I hit the end of the road or are there there other resources available?

Looking forward to chasing down any leads you might be able to provide.

I don't seem to be able find a marriage for them at Sheffield Cathedral on the Marriage Disc produced by SDFHS.

Haven't found the baptism of Robert Hunter at the Cathedral (Parish Church) on SDFHS Baptism disc but there is one for a William baptised 31st Oct 1773 to a Robert Hunter Scissorsmith, possibly his brother?

I'll take a look at the possibility of William being a brother by searching on ancestry and family search. The fathers name matches and the time frame seems to be good also. Fingers crossed.

The baptism shows on the IGI but provides no info on the father Robert so its on to ancestry...
