Ben Wilfong Sues the County--View with Full Screen or Ctrl +

He should be behind bars for his fraud against Tim Wade but his cousin Sheriff Jonese has been treating him with kid gloves and will not arrest him. So as a way of saying thanks Ben has sued the county!

Norman, You might want to look into this matter a little closer too. It's been told that Wilfong frauded the county on this one and took off on an injury while he was working rodeos and things with no injury.

You might also want to check into the story that I heard, but I don't know if it is true, about him throwing out his back making copies at the copy machine. I guess he must have been using that heavy paper.

from the pocahontas times, 10/16/08;

"Pocahontas County Sheriff Robert Alkire filed a writ of mandamus in April to compel commissioners to reinstate nearly $70,000 to his budget they had removed in both the salaries and vehicles line items.

Commissioners shortly reimbursed the sheriff's salary line item when he rehired former deputy Brad Totten at his previous salary. Commission president James Carpenter said in March that the vehicle line item would be refunded from the commission's capital outlay fund when Alkire asked for a new vehicle.

Alkire said in a hearing two weeks ago that while he had more available vehicles than personnel in March, he did not have more vehicles than he had positions.

The sheriff conceded that commissioners set the county budget, but contended that he should be allowed to distribute salaries and give raises as he sees fit. Commissioners have given across-the-board raises to all courthouse employees and have discouraged other officials from giving midyear raises to their employees.

For their part, commissioners have maintained that those midyear raises cause discord amongst courthouse employees.

Last year, Alkire distributed salary money left over from deputies who had either retired or resigned to his remaining deputies. Combined with raises the commission doled out, the remaining force got an approximate $600 per month salary increase.

Commissioners mitigated their misgivings about Alkire's actions by restricting his salary budget for the next fiscal year when he offered them no guarantee he would not repeat the action.

Alkire said Tuesday he would not offer a comment on the judge's ruling"

based on wilfong's complaint and the above article, it appears that sir daddy alkire doled out even higher amounts of money to fewer deputies in the department, which did not include sir wilfong.

exactly who from the 'remaining force' received these increases?

did anyone ever issue a FOIA request on the payroll records to determine where the money went?

and why would sir daddy alkire need the budget reinstated to full staffing levels when there was no staff to pay and he was politically excoriated with the sir junior alkire scandal and an outgoing sheriff with only a few months left on his reign?

Seems like the new sheriff would look into this!

Re: Ben Wilfong Sues the County--View with Full Screen or Ctrl +

So how is this suit related to the arrest?

Re: Ben Wilfong Sues the County--View with Full Screen or Ctrl +

How is this related to the arrest?

Wilfong is just trying to file this suit against the county and later his defense will be that he was mistreated by the county and not payed for his job, thus he had to resort to the act in magistrate court.

But if the county goes light on him and reduces his crime, he will dismiss the civil suit against the county.

It's called LEVERAGE.

Re: Ben Wilfong Sues the County--View with Full Screen or Ctrl +

are you implying that he should try an insanity defense?

Re: Ben Wilfong Sues the County--View with Full Screen or Ctrl +

Get real, Mr. T. Wade try to work with the Wlfong for over two years- what I hear. He try to cheat a hard working person. This is not the type of person we need a deputy. I don't feeled a bit sorry for him. He lie, fake check, and even worst wouldn't even stay in court with Mr. Wade when he was asked certain questions about the checks. Mr. Wade deserved his money and Ben need to take his punishments. The sheriff need to step down on this one, and let someone else handle the situation.
