Re: Poets Corner~~FEEL FREE TO POST YOURS!!!

That's from Tuff Turf.

Re: Poets Corner~~FEEL FREE TO POST YOURS!!!

Sorry this one is a bit out of "season"!
A Politically correct HOLIDAY poem;

'Twas the night before Christmas and Santa's a wreck...
How to live in a world that's politically correct?
His workers no longer would answer to "Elves".
"Vertically Challenged" they were calling themselves.
And labour conditions at the North Pole
were alleged by the union to stifle the soul.

Four reindeer had vanished, without much propriety,
Released to the wilds by the Humane Society.
And equal employment had made it quite clear
That Santa had better not use just reindeer.
So Dancer and Donner, Comet and Cupid
Were replaced with 4 pigs, and you know that looked stupid!

The runners had been removed from his sleigh;
The ruts were termed dangerous by the E.P.A.
And people had started to call for the cops
When they heard sled noises on their rooftops.
Second-hand smoke from his pipe had his workers quite frightened.
His fur trimmed red suit was called "Unenlightened."

And to show you the strangeness of life's ebbs and flows,
Rudolf was suing over unauthorised use of his nose
And had gone on Geraldo, in front of the nation,
Demanding millions in over-due compensation.
So, half of the reindeer were gone; and his wife,
Who suddenly said she'd enough of this life,

Joined a self-help group, packed, and left in a whiz,
Demanding from now on her title was Ms.
And as for the gifts, why, he'd never had a notion
That making a choice could cause so much commotion.
Nothing of leather, nothing of fur,
Which meant nothing for him. And nothing for her.

Nothing that might be construed to pollute.
Nothing to aim, Nothing to shoot.
Nothing that clamoured or made lots of noise.
Nothing for just girls, or just for the boys.
Nothing that claimed to be gender specific.
Nothing that's warlike or non-pacifistic.

No candy or sweets...they were bad for the tooth.
Nothing that seemed to embellish a truth.
And fairy tales, while not yet forbidden,
Were like Ken and Barbie, better off hidden.
For they raised the hackles of those psychological
Who claimed the only good gift was one ecological.

No baseball, no football...someone could get hurt;
Besides, playing sports exposed kids to dirt.
Dolls were said to be sexist, and should be passe;
And Nintendo would rot your entire brain away.
So Santa just stood there, dishevelled, perplexed;
He just could not figure out what to do next.

He tried to be merry, tried to be gay,
But you've got to be careful with that word today.
His sack was quite empty, limp to the ground;
Nothing fully acceptable was to be found.
Something special was needed, a gift that he might
Give to all without angering the left or the right.

A gift that would satisfy, with no indecision,
Each group of people, every religion;
Every ethnicity, every hue,
Everyone, everywhere...even you.
So here is that gift, it's price beyond worth...
May you and your loved ones, enjoy peace on Earth.

Re: Poets Corner~~FEEL FREE TO POST YOURS!!!

Here is another one of my poems. I wrote this for my girlfriend.

SPECIAL WOMAN

God he had a plan,
It was a Special one,
Because he gave me you,
"My Special Woman."

He thought it was time,
To quit being blue,
But to be happy and,
Being happy with a woman,
Like you.

You are my love,
You are my friend,
But most of all,
You are,
"My Special Woman."

And my special friend.
I thank God everyday,
For that Special Plan for,
For giving me a,
"Special Woman."

You will always be,
My one and only,
Special friend and,
My very own,
"Special Woman."

I thank God for sending,
Me someone who loves me,
More than anything,
You are, my very Special Woman,
"My Special Woman."

New Pledge of Allegiance!

Since the Pledge of Allegiance

and

The Lord's Prayer

are not allowed in most
public schools anymore

Because the word "God" is mentioned....

A kid in Arizona wrote the attached
NEW? School prayer.

I liked it.

Now I sit me down in school

Where praying is against the rule

For this great nation under God

Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,

It violates the Bill of Rights.

And anytime my head I bow

Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,

That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.

The law is specific, the law is precise.

Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall

Might offend someone with no faith at all.

In silence alone we must meditate,

God's name is prohibited by the state.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,

And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.

They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.

To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,

And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.

It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong,

We're taught that such "judgments" do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth controls,

Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.

But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,

No word of God must reach this crowd.

It's scary here I must confess,

When chaos reigns the school's a mess.

So, Lord, this silent plea I make:

Should I be shot; My soul please take!

Amen

Jesus said,

"If you are ashamed of me,

I will be ashamed of you before my Father."

Letter To Mom
Feb.25,2007

Can you see me from up there?
Can you see the pain down here?
The pain I have for so many reasons
Hoping it will change each season.
I can’t get close to ones I love,
I wish sometimes I was a dove.
So I could go and see each one,
Of the loves here and above.
But here I am alone and heartbroken
Wondering when the tears will quit soaking.
They fall so fast it can’t be helped
When I think of you all I can do is

Re: Poets Corner~~FEEL FREE TO POST YOURS!!!

Dedicated to Ruby:
They say that life is fleeting
I know that this is true
I left this world so quickly
With no goodbye to you.

I know how much you miss me
Your tears fall ever light
The pillow where you lay your head
Is wet with them at night.

I know your heart is hurting
The words we left, unsaid
I love you’s, left unspoken
Are spinning in your head.

The strength that I have carried
That served to make you whole
Remains to make you stronger
Within your grieving soul.

For you see, while you were weeping
On the day I passed away
At the gravesite near the flowers
Where my loved ones knelt to pray.

An angel came to see me
She took me by the hand
She led me to a kingdom
In a very distant land.

As I look down from heaven
And see you standing there
Your heart so ever burdened
With more grief than it can bear.

I long to bring you comfort
I long to give you peace
I long to hold you closely
Cause all your tears to cease.

The joy I’ve found in heaven
Goes far beyond compare
The love that’s so elusive
Can be found here everywhere.

The light is softly shining
There’s no storm clouds here or rain
There’s no teardrops found in heaven
There’s no suffering, there’s no pain.

You needn’t be so troubled
Stay close to God and pray
That someday we’ll be together
One bright and glorious day.

So my love, you shouldn’t question
My dear you need not cry
I’ve gone to be with Jesus
I really didn’t die.

Re: Poets Corner~~FEEL FREE TO POST YOURS!!!

A Poem: from Son in prison to Mommy:by Ima
(in response to the Editorial "can't afford toothpaste" thread;

"WHY, oh WHY?", every day I cry!
Ever since my arrest, I can't get no Crest!
I sit in my cell, and can't stand the smell.
Is it gastritis? No! GINGIVITIS!
If I ain't paroled soon, I have no doubt-
that it won't be very long until my last tooth falls out.

By the way Mommy dear, my bottom is bare,
cause this place don't have no huge underwear!
You know for a fact I am as big as a barge,
I can't figure out why they don't sell 3XXXlarge.

The way I look just makes me blush,
cause I ain't got shampoo nor a comb or a brush.

The food here is bad and there's NEVER enough,
so why do I stay so fat while the other dudes are buff?

Please Mommy dear, can you write and complain, to the local newspaper before I go insane?
Be sure to set up a hoot and a holler,
about what a misery prison is without no dollars!

Tell them people you ain't got no car,
and about the mental anguish I have suffered from your lack of visits and being incarcerated thus far.
And be sure to remember, PLEASE don't forget,
to mention that I can't even have cigarettes!
That should get sympathy from all those folks,
when they find out that I ain't even allowed to smoke!

I will write again soon with another sad tale...
love from your son in Tygarts Valley Regional Jail.

New Poem

For Fate

The shadows stain your skin, on mine
The warmth , we press- our souls entwined.

magnetic glaze of heated skin,
A battle; lust, defeat within.

A pause, a breathe; a tickled spine,
Your kiss; my lips- our hips! DEVINE.

Rubbing, tugging drips of sweat
These fated thrusts, I won’t forget!

Your eyes are pools, I’ve gladly drowned.
My neck, your fingers, my mouth; now bound

Immobily wrapped within this bliss
Silent and still; no words- my kiss.

Re: Poets Corner~~FEEL FREE TO POST YOURS!!!

"Sentencing-Day"

As we returned from the courthouse on that wet December day,I had a feeling of sadness with nothing much to say. You see I had just received my sentence, and it went the worst way under the plea I'd taken, and believe I know because I was shaken.
I understand that justice must be met.I believe my Lawyer sold me out and if I was a gambeling man on that I'd surely bet. As I walked through the dayroom straight toward my cell,it's strangeeven though it's always cold, I could feel the fires of Hell.I felt the presence of the Devil when I walked through the door and I didn't want him in my life anymore. As i hit my knees and started to cry, all i wanted to die. All because Satan was a liar and i believed his lies. You see if i'd listened to him when he told me to go ahead. I truly knew it would be a lot less painfull if i was dead, but that is what he wanted me to believe Because he is a liar and it was me he wanted to deceive. So please read 1st Peter 5:8 and it will tell you about him. And then you will see if i'd taken my life like the Devil wanted me to.The family that i had left would be heart broken and blue, not to mention my Salvation would forever be through.so i looked up and started to pray, i could feel the fires going. i ask godto forgive me and begged him to comeinto my life. i also prayed for Him to one day return my Children and wife I also Him to help me not to grieve, and i would walk in his light and in him I'd alway's believe. "My Way"
As I walk into the room.
I see her standing across the way. Her alburn hair shinning with reflections of the evening sun.
I just can't seem to take my eyes off of her. The voices of the people talking around me sound as if they were a distant thounder.
Fortelling of the comming rains. I stand hoping that just one look from her jade green eyes will fall my way.
She turns and walks through the crowd. I pray! Please stop. Please stay. Just one look my way.

Re: Poets Corner~~FEEL FREE TO POST YOURS!!!

Here is a few sayinys about friends and friends that we have lost and i would like to dedicate them to Christopher Brion Reeser
June 5th 1992
to
March 15th, 2007

"Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,Still loved, still missed and very dear.

I'm surronded by angels I call them friends they walk beside from the begining to the end

A real friend is hard to find
difficult to leave
and evan harder to forget

Re: Poets Corner~~FEEL FREE TO POST YOURS!!!

A friend is like a flower,
a rose to be exact,
Or maybe like a brand new gate
that never comes unlatched.
A friend is like an owl,
both beautiful and wise.
Or perhaps a friend is like a ghost,
whose spirit never dies.
A friend is like a heart that goes
strong until the end.
Where would we be in this world
if we didn't have a friend.

Why GOD Gave Us Friends

GOD knew that everyone needs
Companionship and cheer,
He knew that people need someone
Whose thoughts are always near.

He knew they need someone kind
To lend a helping hand.
Someone to gladly take the time
To care and understand.

GOD knew that we all need someone
To share each happy day,
To be a source of courage
When troubles come our way.

Someone to be true to us,
Whether near or far apart.
Someone whose love we'll always
Hold and treasure in our hearts.

That's Why GOD Gave Us Friends!

Re: Poets Corner~~FEEL FREE TO POST YOURS!!!

When I was a little girl - my mother wrote a poem and placed it in the front of a white bible she gave me for my birthday. Now that I'm old, I get mom's inspiration and God's inspiration together.

It is with the greatest pleaure
That I give this little treasure
Full of wealth beyond measure
To this little girl of mine.
May it help make life worthwhile
Help you when it's hard to smile
And at the end of life's last mile
Guide you to your home divine.

Re: Poets Corner~~FEEL FREE TO POST YOURS!!!

The Day of Your Death
Friend, will you ponder some words of truth, though you be up in years, or yet in your youth?
With each passing day your life spins by, Death creeps closer till it's your turn to die.
On your bed of death the thought comes to mind - all your dear loved ones you must leave behind.
They speak words of comfort and try not to cry, but there is no comfort; it's your turn to die.
As you reflect upon many wasted years, your poor heart saddens and your eyes fill with tears.
You spent so much time for family and friends, yet so little time being grieved for your sins.
You sped through your years consuming worldly pleasures, yet never investing in Heavenly treasures.
With these sobering thoughts you begin to grow scared; it's your turn to die, and you have not prepared!
As loved ones gaze upon your lifeless frame, your soul makes its journey to the Land of the Flame.
"Why me?" you cry, "I wasn't that bad!" But then you recall all the chances you had.
Time and time again God's humble servants came - offering you salvation in Jesus' name.
But you cared not for God's holy plan; you despised His servants, and from His truth you ran.
Now as your feet sink into the flame, all hope is gone to trust in His name.
Deeper you go into the fiery bath, having traded God's mercy for His never-ending wrath.
While horror fills your soul and the pain multiplies, your screams simply fade into the smoke-filled skies.
As you wade through the flames seeking consolation, those you encounter have the same condemnation.
There's no one to help, there's nowhere to turn; refuge has fled, and you're left here to burn!
As your loved ones back home in the world above comfort one another with words of love,
They're all unaware of your sad plight beneath, of your weeping, your wailing, and your gnashing teeth!
They'll soon gently lay your body in the ground, but of your screams below they won't hear a sound.
Never again will you see a smiling face, only faces of agony in this ****able place.
No children playing with whom to share your love, not another second with your sweetheart above.
No food to eat, no water in sight, forever you're a captive to Hell's dark night!
Sunsets have vanished, no mountains, no streams, only roaring flames and soul-piercing screams!
At last you now see your error so well: when you said "No" to Jesus, you said "Yes" to Hell.

~Raven~
If you really think about this poem and my name, youll know who I am.Love your babygirl!!

-Enough-

Im up against the wall,
And there is not much more I can take,
If Im pushed anymore,
My mind will surely break.
My soul feels empty,
My self esteem is low,
Ive had way past enough,
Im just about to blow.
All my buttons have been pushed,
My nerves are shot,
Ive lost all control,
My hearts in a knot.
Ive been put down,
Battered and bruised,
Lord make me stronger,
I feel like my mind Im about to lose.
Someone help me up,
Show me the way,
Help me know that someday,
Will be a better day!!!

Where I'm From by Dale Kinnison

I am from the mountains of West Virginia
From country music,
I am from a hard working family,
I am from our Father who art in heaven
The church choir
And "Amazing Grace"

I am from a broken home
And a reunited home
I am from a loving caring family
From good home cooked meals
I am from my grandma's rose
And from the sweet smell

I am from summers spent with my friends
From working at Trents
I am from hunting with my dad Allen
From fishing in Debbie and Bobby's pond
I am from 4-H
And from the Boy Scouts

I am from my mom's wisdom
From her love
I am from my mom's attitude
And from her strength
I am from White Pines
From Camp Thornwood
I am from "Country Roads"
But most of all I am from the mountains of
West Virginia and I will never forget that

A Gift Of Gold~~~

In the distance the sun was shining brightly through
the trees.
Something sparkling caught my eye.....A beautiful gold
object was straight ahead of me.
As I approached it, I saw it was moving as if by magic;
gracefully, across the leaves of the grape vines.
Upon closer inspection; was, a magestic looking Gold
Spider who was weaving an intricate web.
This spider completed so much work in such a short time....I wondered what was it thinking about?
Was it food? A nest? Or, a mate?
None of this seemed to matter; because whatever this
spider was thinking, it put great thought and detail
into this object it created.
Never before have I appreciated anything as simple as
a spiders web.
As I looked at all the different passages, I realized
this was definately for my eyes only.
This spiders web somehow became my life.
Visions of my past flashed before my eyes....visions
of my future danced across the spiders back, as if
it were a mirror.
Then, just as quickly as this wondrous gift had been made, it was taken away.
It dosn't matter how, or why, but I cried for the spider.....I cried for me.....and I cried for the chance to share this short and sacred ritual with a creature I never could have loved until that moment.
Beautiful little golden spider weave your web of live.
Weave on for me until we meet again!

Re: Poets Corner~~FEEL FREE TO POST YOURS!!!

Where has time Going

I remember not long ago
You setting there in your chair
A hot cup of coffee
And your apron on
Doing a crossword puzzle
And gazing off into another world
And mom I often wonder what you were thinking
But never had the nerve to ask
And you used to get upset with me
When I came in late
Because I used to stop by your bedroom door
And make a noise just so you would stir
And all I was doing was making sure you were ok
And when you made a noise
I knew then you were
I would smile
And off to bed I would go
Mom I miss those times
Now that you are going
So Lord please
For me will you do
Please check in on my mom
On you’re way to bed

In memory of
Lula Sharp
Your Loving son
Ivan..

Feeling lonely
dieing slowly
you have got no place to turn
speaking to you
can't get through
You have blocked the outside world!

The outside world!

Don’t take our Land

They think they can take our land.
Not without a fight from this Mountain man.

The Land they want is clean and fresh.
They want put a poop plant to smell up the place.

The mountains are majestic.
The streams run clear.

Where they’re abundant of trout.
And plenty of deer.

They build on our mountains tops.
They take over our land.

But not without a fight from this Mountain man.

Under ground streams and plenty of caves.
Tall oak trees and fields of hay.

And places where the grandkids can play.
Listen to us and do the right thing.

Leave us alone and we will do the same.

Waters deep, waters high,
Sink and sink slowly die,
Away from sight, away from you
Was a dream now come true
And as I slip away from sight
The water stills on this cold night
My heart it takes one last beat
To join the sound of falling sleet

I got this e-mail today and thought it was as true as can be! Enjoy!

> One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip
to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people
live.
> They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be
considered a very poor family.
> On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, "How was
the trip?"
> "It was great, Dad."
> "Did you see how poor people live?" the father asked.
> "Oh yeah," said the son.
> "So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?" asked the father.
> The son answered:
> "I saw that we have one dog and they had four.
> We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have
a creek that has no end.
> We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at
night.
> Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.
> We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go
beyond our sight.
> We have servants who serve us, but they serve others.
> We buy our food, but they grow theirs.
> We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to
protect them."
> The boy's father was speechless.
> Then his son added, "Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are."
> Isn't perspective a wonderful thing? Makes you wonder what would
happen if we all gave thanks for everything we have, instead of worrying
about what we don't have.
> Appreciate every single thing you have, especially your friends and
family!
> Pass this on to friends and acquaintances and help them refresh their
perspective and appreciation.

Home
Cass West Virginia is a good place to go.
I lived there i should know.
People come from other places.
Some to stay, some on vacations.
They all come to ride the train .
Even if its pouring down the rain.
Big people little people even dogs.
Comes to ride the train that used to haul logs.
Down Cheat mountain years ago.
Just to hear the whistle blow.
The whistle blows long and loud.
It makes the workers feel awful proud .
So many people come each day.
Just to ride the number four shay

Here One i Wrote Some time Back!!

Why I Love It Here

Threw the Misty Forest I Walk
So Quite No Ones Here To Talk.

There A Flower Up On It Is Due
And the Sky Today Is So Blue.

The Due On The Leaf Looks Like Tears
I Do Believe GOD Wants Us To Here.

As We Walk All Alone His Thoughts Are Clear
Walk As One Have No Fear.

Do As He Would Want Us To
Not What We Want To Do

Even If It Is A Heavy Load
Keep On Heading Down The Right Road.

Re: Poets Corner~~FEEL FREE TO POST YOURS!!!

Was setting here in my office This came to mind......

Threw the woods I walk.

Threw the woods I walked today.
No sound of human life display.

In the distance the sound of a lone whippoorwill.
Breaks the silence of dawn.

As the wind whisper threw the trees.
I knelled up on my knees.

I asked the man above please.
Let me understand her needs.

For she is the hope of my shinning light.
From day one of our wedding night.

With out her iam nothing.
With her iam every thing.

So I ask you please on bending knees.
Our love will last forever please.

Just now I felt a light breeze
Your presents were here with me

So now my mind is at ease
My love for her will never leave

THE WALL
BY SARGENT LLOYD R ARMSTRONG RET.
After a visit to the VIETNAM wall April 22,2006

THERE’S A WALL MADE OF BLACK GRANITE IN WASHINGTON DC,
WITH THE NAMES OF FALLEN SOLDIERS FOR ALL THE WORLD TO SEE.
SOME MOTHER’S LITTLE ANGEL SOME FATHER’S LITTLE BOY
WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR FREEDOM IN PLACES LIKE HANOI.

SENT THERE BY THEIR PRESIDENT THEY WERE DUTY BOUND TO GO,
TO PLACES LIKE DA NANG, PLEIKU, SAIGON AND DAK TO
THOUGH THEY NEVER KNEW THE REASON THEY RESPONDED TO THE CALL,
SOME GAVE A LOT, SOME GAVE MUCH MORE AND MANY GAVE IT ALL.

SOMETIMES THEY FOUGHT IN JUNGLE HEAT SOMETIMES IN POURING RAIN, SOMETIME THEY WON THE VICTORY, SOMETIMES THEY FOUGHT IN VAIN
SOMETIMES THEY SAW THE ENEMY, SOMETIMES THEY DID NOT SEE
ALWAYS THEY FOUGHT AND DIED, SO OTHERS COULD BE FREE

NOW THEY SAY THE WAR IS ENDED AND THE BATTLE THERE IS DONE,
BUT STILL THE QUESTIONS FOLLOW AND NOBODY KNOWS WHO WON.
BUT IT’S TIME TO STAND AND WAVE THE FLAG SHOW THEM ALL YOUR PRIDE.
GIVE HONOR TO THE LIVING AND RESPECT TO THOSE WHO DIED.

THE BATTLE NOW IS OVER FOR THOSE ONES ON THE WALL, BUT THE WAR WILL NOT BE OVER UNTIL WE FIND THEM ALL. WE WILL NOT REST UNTIL ONE DAY THE BLACK FLAG CAN COME DOWN, WHEN EACH ONE UNACCOUNTED FOR WILL FINALLY BE FOUND.

WE WON’T FORGET, WE WON’T GIVE UP, TILL WE SEE YOU ALL ONCE MORE AND YOU HAVE FINALLY MADE IT HOME, TO THIS MAJESTIC SHORE. THE FLAG WILL WAVE FOR FREEDOM AND WE’LL STUDY WAR NO MORE. AND WE ALL SHALL STAND TRIUMPHANT ON HEAVEN’S GOLDEN SHORE.

I stand at the manger,
beneath the mow.
Soon to bear,
the heavy plow.

Soft wind whispers,
spring is near.
As I stamp my feet,
and wait to hear.

The farmer bring,
my morning grain.
I smell the air,
it smells like rain.

Soon the earth,
my back will turn.
I'll pull and sweat,
till my mussels burn.

I'll stand and watch,
the crops I sow.
The soil to nourish,
sprout and grow.

The oats so tall,
my eyes I'll strain.
To see the tops,
fill up with grain.

Winter will come,
the snow will fall.
I'll stand here waiting,
in my stall.

I'll stamp my feet,
my ears I'll strain.
To hear the farmer,
bring my grain.

AUTUMN TWILIGHT
By Edward Kennison

The wind screams and roars,
Through the trees on mountaintop,
High above the hand-mortared stone cabin,
The flat mountain stone is freezing,
To the touch,
Momma's hand sewn quilts,
Hang over the walls,
Appalachian tapestries,
Made not from silk, but carefully sewn scraps,
Flannel, corduroy, cotton, all natural,
The fireplace keeps the room toasty,
But smokes us out when the wind blows down,
Dinner was potato soup and dipping crust,
It has been nearly two weeks since I saw meat,
Snow is pilled past the bottoms of the windows,
Poppa and Andy, the eldest,
Have kept a path shoveled to the john,
I try to go no more than twice a day,
Traversing the new tunnel,
Snow piled over my tiny head,
At the end of Summer our family was five strong,
Momma, Poppa, Andy, Dorthy and me,
That number will soon be four, maybe three,
Dorthy's eyes shine with the sickness,
Poppa sayes it's milk sickness,
I know it's worse, much worse,
Momma tries to treat it with yellow root tea,
A drop of turpintine on the tongue twice a day,
An ax set up under the bed to cut the fever,
The trip into town take three days,
In good summer weather,
Dorothy's soul light will not last I fear,
Till the snow has gone away,
It is pilled deep and high,
With Winter still four days away,
I feel her soul light is fading quickly,
Light autumn twilight,
Thers is nothing to do but stoke the fire,
Watch the snow and listen to the screams,
Some of which are from the wind.

Two blue gray subaru's driving thru town..
One leans up hill...
one leans down....

Two blue gray subaru's driving thru town...
one sees money..
one just frowns....

Two blue gray subaru's staring off in space....
One has a skinny head
one a round face.....

Two blue gray subaru's zip zip zip
One drives a fast pace
one just lost its zip

Two blue gray subaru's looking for a friend
Both stab you in the back
Both just won't bend...

Re: Poets Corner~~FEEL FREE TO POST YOURS!!!

Original poetry is great, blatant plagiarism is not.

On Feb 20th, Crazywolf posted a poem, "I Walk the Night," claiming that it was his.

This is actually a song sung by James Spader in the 1985 movie, "Tuff Turf."

The actual lyrics are:

I feel the thunder
I feel the pain
I know the struggles you keep
The nights in the rain
I feel your face
I hear your eyes
I know the nights that you cry
But still we survive

I walk the night
I walk the night
Fighting the darkness
That breaks our hearts
We hold each other tight

I walk the night
I walk the night
Fighting the darkness
That breaks our hearts
We hold each other tight

I feel your tears
I touch your smile
We lick our wounds
‘till light rips through the night

We walk the night
We walk the night
Fighting the darkness
That breaks our hearts
We hold each other tight

We walk the night
We walk the night
We walk the night
We walk the night
We walk the night
We walk the night

I would hold the rest of his stuff suspect as well.

Re: Poets Corner~~FEEL FREE TO POST YOURS!!!

This is a poem I found on the net, but would like to share it with everyone. Its called I Am Proud

I Am Proud
I am proud of those who make sacrifices for me. So I can live the American dream to be all I can be in the country where I can live free.

Weather you are an army of one, the few and the proud, a seaman, or the boys in the blue, I want you to know that I am proud of you.

For the sacrificing your lives and famlies so I can enjoy lifes pleasantries from sea to shining sea you bring freedom and peace to our loving country.

Because of your courang and commitment to ensure my freedom, I am free and happy. For all your sacrifices I am deeply saddened, but I want you to know that I am proud of all tha things you do.

In distant lands, for this I will stand tall and salute you because you make me proud to be an American, And I am proud of you.

That Poem was by Jimmy C Mills and submitted to AuthorsDen.com on April 2, 2003

~Forever Yours~

Listen for the pin to drop,
The audience will applaude the tragidy,
Love lost.

Deaths grip around her neck,
As tears flow for her betroved one,
Even in death they can not have one another.
Fate brought them together,
For a laugh, tore them apart.

Surrendering herself to the darkness,
In on last breath his name is spoken.
Flashes of the life they could have shared before her eyes,
The tears of lost love upon the wooden floor.

Watch her last breath and listen to his name,
She is forever yours,
Carry the love she holds so dear,
Remember her name on your lips.
Whisper to her when you are alone,
She will always be with you.

Just out of your reach.

Listen for the pin to fall,
A tradgic love story told by your lips,
Wishing her ears to hear every word.

Do not cry for her,
Her love holds true.
Her dying wish was to save you.

Re: Poets Corner~~FEEL FREE TO POST YOURS!!!

#703

Once a man stood tall
Carried a badge for us all.

To serve and protect was his gold
The law he did uphold.

And he did this with pride
In his cruiser 703 he did ride.

He was there - to fight crime
Late at night - or anytime.

Fond memories of him
We carry each day.

A heavy sorrow on our shoulders weight
As he left us that day.

They took his number
He wore so proud.

- Then retired it from the force -

Then one dark night
Something wasn’t just right.

For over the airway we did here
703 please respond.

Ours hearts skip a beat
Did we here right –Please repeat

There it was again in the night
Man old man this ant’s right

It hit us hard
It made us weak.

For heaven sakes!
Who is responsible for this MISTAKE?

Re: Poets Corner~~FEEL FREE TO POST YOURS!!!

Re: The Passing of a Legend

The Passing of a Legend

Way back in the mountains lived a heck of man
Didn’t have a retirement plan.

He didn’t need one you see
He lived a life of the highest degree.

He lived up in those mountains where the winter were cold
People asked him a question and a stories would unfold.

He knew about life more than most men
Talked about growing up and where he’s been.

Tough as an oak tree
And a heart of gold.

So much knowledge this man he did hold.
People would listen for hours, as the stories would unfold.

Then one day GOD was talking to St Peter.
You know we need someone to make this garden look sweeter.

So the search begin - far and near
For such a person who made this his career.

There in West Virginia way back in the hills
A great man lived- with these skills

Here's a poem a friend sent me

Angry words were exchange
As it grew into a ranged.

Were shots fired?
As the body went down.

Right then they knew
They had to get out of town.

Thought they would be standing tall
They took off and ran from the law.

Threw the road block they did run
Dodging those whaling guns.

Bullets’ flying heads bent low
Knowing if they get caught it would be hard roe.

Deep down inside they know it would not last
All the things they done in the past.

Because in the mirror they could see
Flashing lights of the local P.D.

In the middle of no where
The rage is still in the air.

And all will come to an end in that small town.
When the Judge slams that gavel down.

Re: Poets Corner~~FEEL FREE TO POST YOURS!!!

Don’t look down on me

You see me down by the dumpsters
But you never ask why

Maybe I need to give you some background
As to why I come around.

You see it could be several things
All those little tinkles you throw away.

Maybe I take them home
So my kids can play.

Or maybe I redo them you see
And put them under some ones Christmas tree.

Or could it be
I fix them for some money.

If you really want help
There something you can do.

Please don’t break and crush them
For they’re no good to you.

But I can take and fix them
And give them to a needy cause.

Now would it help you?
If I did it this way.

Open a little shop
To repair you throw a ways.

Would you bring them by?
And drop them off.

You see its hard and dirty work
The way I do it now.

But it’s all worth while
To see those little kids smile.

But hey
Please walk in my shoes one day.

And you will see
I am glad it’s not you but me.

BECAUSE
I wouldn’t wish this life on my worse enemy.

They’re a forum on the www
Called the e-tater.

Someone going say something bad
Sooner or later.

Their people that don’t believe in bear hunting
They can’t see the light because of there grunting.

But now and then
They bow up like an old wet hen.

Say things that they regret
And make them silly threats.

But deep down inside to them its just a game
Trying to get some e-tater fame.

Now let me ask who is to blame
To me hunting is hunting its all the same.

I can see their side but then- there the other
We are all like a family- of big brothers.

Stop fighting among one another
So lets get along like little brother.

So do what is right
Respect your brother’s hunting rights.

But Officer

We work puzzles until we’re tired--
Our special way of getting’ wired--
Perfection is not “for the birds”!
Those boxes MUST be filled with words!

The foreign ones are so-o-o un-cool.
Who knows the currency for Zool?
Its mountain ranges, streams, or towns?
We know the word for sequined crowns!

Addiction draws us to the screen
For today’s challenge, yet unseen.
We need no pencil, just our brains
With all the info it contains.

We know these clues! They’re not new ones!
…familiar questions, hints, and puns...
We tug our hair like a buffoon.
Norm, get us a new puzzle. . .SOON!

I have a friend who "tells me off".
He thinks I am a fool
'Cause I work puzzles with a pen
As a general rule.

He once told me if I played golf,
I'd keep it under par.
Well, there's no point to whacking balls
Around a giant yard!

"No, golf's a game of skill," he'd said.
"One has to plan, and think.
Quite like those puzzles that you do.
They'd bring ME close to drink!"

"Then I'LL work puzzles. YOU play golf,
And at the end of day
We'll both have had our exercise...
Just in a diff'rent way!"

Norm, I miss my exercise!

When I got up this morning, I
Was giddy as a cat!
Over two hundred hits on here!
What would YOU think of that?

I thought: The readers are concerned.
They care about our plight.
They're goin' to hang in there with us
'Til Norman sets things right.

"Another puzzler" and Roger
Had come to our defense
To make sure Norman understood
The gist of the offense.

I quickly backed to the home page,
Excitement held at bay,
To get at the new puzzle there,
A fresh one for today.

Can you imagine how I felt
When I read that first clue?
"Requests" it said; and "asks" I thought,
But THIS hint isn't new!

A couple more...this can't be right...
"Sharpen" means "hone" a tool...
When next came "coral island", well,
I, newly, felt a fool!

"These things take time," I told myself,
"Give him a day or two."
There's more to life than puzzling.
Could YOU list here, a few?

AMERICAN FLAG

Stand up straight hold your head high
Be proud of our flag as she flies.

She's been through a lot of wars
She's been ripped she's been torn.

She's been hanging for a lot of years
She's been battered she shed tears.

She flies for this land of the free
She'll always fly for you and me.

So for your flag stand up tall
Keep her on the pole don't let her fall.

She can take what ever they give
She'll always fly She'll always live.

She'll hang around for a long long time
Just be proud that she's yours and mine.

No matter how many bombs, shells cuts they give
She'll always stand she'll always live.

She'll always stand tall She'll always fly high
She'll always be here she'll never die.

So when you stand in front of her
With your hand on your heart. - Remember

We will defend her to the death
We will never part.

So many memories
So many laughs
It hit us so fast
We couldnt of known
You were so young
Just becoming a man
They tell us to move on
But we still think of you
Not a day goes by that you
arent on our minds
But the time has come that we
Must say good bye
But its not forever
Because we will meet again

together forever

A SILENT CALL
By:Tater Salad
Published about twelve years ago in an independent (not mine) mag.

As the days grow nearer
to the past
my idling grows clearer
so very fast

I see behind me
my future
where I'm freed
by no cure

disease is healthy,
yet healthiness deadly
the song of a death
is a bittersweet medly

Soothes my happiness
excites my fears
saddens the madness
while drying the tears

My hand shakes like coldness
while staying their still
as death drops like rain
on my dry window sill

And then the glass breaks
with no shatter at all
as I awake from my "dream"
With a silent call.

Now belongs to me.

And it’s not over- - until the end.
