Missing My Sweetheart @ Christmas

What is the name of the song by the Eagles? I love it! I also love the song by Elvis, Santa Bring My Baby Back to Me!

Eagles: What is the name of the song?
Bells will be ringing...oh what a Christmas to have the blues...my baby's gone, I have no friends to wish me greetings once again...please come home for Christmas

Re: Missing My Sweetheart @ Christmas

Couger,

The best song by the Eagles is "Take it Easy." I used to sing it outloud all the time while riding around North America on my Motorcycle. Especially when I was in Arizona and going through Winslow.

Norman, I am sure you can find this song.

Here are the lyrics:

Well, Im running down the road
Tryin to loosen my load
Ive got seven women on
My mind,
Four that wanna own me,
Two that wanna stone me,
One says shes a friend of mine
Take it easy, take it easy
Dont let the sound of your own wheels
Drive you crazy
Lighten up while you still can
Dont even try to understand
Just find a place to make your stand
And take it easy
Well, Im a standing on a corner
In winslow, arizona
And such a fine sight to see
Its a girl, my lord, in a flatbed
Ford slowin down to take a look at me
Come on, baby, dont say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is
Gonna save me
We may lose and we may win though
We will never be here again
So open up, Im climbin in,
So take it easy
Well Im running down the road trying to loosen
My load, got a world of trouble on my mind
Lookin for a lover who wont blow my
Cover, shes so hard to find
Take it easy, take it easy
Dont let the sound of your own
Wheels make you crazy
Come on baby, dont say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is
Gonna save me, oh oh oh
Oh we got it easy
We oughta take it easy

Joel,I cannot imagine you singing this song; I would have thought that you would be singing something from "The Phantom of the Opera" or such, even "Pomp and Circumstance" ,which I dearly love to hear. One of my regrets is that I am unlearned in music.Perhaps, then, there is more to your song than I can appreciate in my state of music illiteracy.

Re: Missing My Sweetheart @ Christmas

Not only did I sing that song over and over, but on my many trips back and forth across the country as I got near the Mississippi River I would sing Arlo Guthrie's "City of New Orleans" which is about a train that goes from the north to the south along the river.

I love this song and it is one of my all time favorites.

The lyrics are below.

Ridin' on the City of New Orleans
Illinois Central, Monday mornin' rail
15 cars & 15 restless riders
Three conductors, 25 sacks of mail

All along the southbound odyssey the train pulls out of Kankakee
Rolls along past houses, farms & fields
Passin' graves that have no name, freight yards full of old black men
And the graveyards of rusted automobiles

Good mornin' America, how are you?
Don't you know me? I'm your native son!
I'm the train they call the City of New Orleans
I'll be gone 500 miles when the day is done

Dealin' cards with the old men in the club car
Penny a point, ain't no one keepin' score
Pass the paper bag that holds the bottle
And feel the wheels rumblin' neath the floor

And the sons of Pullman porters & the sons of engineers
Ride their fathers' magic carpets made of steel
Mothers with their babes asleep, rockin' to the gentle beat
And the rhythm of the rails is all they feel

Good mornin' America, how are you?
Say don't you know me? I'm your native son!
I'm the train they call the City of New Orleans.
I'll be gone 500 miles when the day is done.

Night time on the City of New Orleans
Changin' cars in Memphis, Tennessee
Halfway home, we'll be there by mornin'
Thru the Mississippi darkness rollin' down to the sea

But all the towns and people seem to fade into a bad dream
And the steel rail still ain't heard the news
The conductor sings his songs again
"The passengers will please refrain:
This train got the disappea rin' railroad blues

Good night America, how are you?
Say don't you know me? I'm your native son!
I'm the train they call the City of New Orleans.
I'll be gone 500 miles when the day is done

"Please Come Home for Christmas!" Thank you ooo! I, too, like "Take it Easy," like Joel. I am loving the videos, too. Another one of my favorites, by the Eagles is "Hotel California."

Thank you Norman!

Dear Santa,
I've been good all year! Please send a cloned young version of Elvis my way this Christmas, the Hunk of Burning Love. Or send me a nice, funloving, sexy young man who knows romance. My baby's gone. I have the blues. Please come home for Christmas.
Love,
Cougar With Her Claws Out, who could, with the right one, curl up and become a kitten.

Re: Missing My Sweetheart @ Christmas

Joel, the only thing I have to say to you is you have good taste in music..

Re: Missing My Sweetheart @ Christmas

Re: Missing My Sweetheart @ Christmas

LOL sideshowbob! I still remember when Julia Roberts married Lyle Lovett...on Seinfeld, Kramer slid in the room with hair standing straight up like always...he said, "Just think, I coulda had her!" LOL

Today, I believe, I may go out there and hunt a sweet one down...do my own Christmas shopping for me! You'd better believe I'm not paying for him, though. LOL...there has to be someone for everyone, and I'm not being conceited, but I am a pretty lady.

I want to have fun! Sitting here in my cozy warm home, Polar Bears looking in the window at me...it will be my luck, Santa will send me an ELF like Yoda from Star Wars, or a blue one like Papa Smurf, LOL.
