Christmas programs where there was actually a play with speaking parts for the children.
School lunches were actually homemade and cooked by some of the most wonderful cooks in Pocahontas County and they would give you double portions of the foods they knew you liked!
My siblings and I enjoyed playing four squares, riding our pony, and participating in the yearly "Christmas Plays," at our little country church, making taffy, going on family picnics, picking buckets of huckleberries for canning, going on family outings to the "Drive-In, and spending time with our grandparents.
